Why are these plates exploding?

Can‘t answer your question in the context of the product in question, but can suggest a possible explanation as to why the plates are self-destructing based on personal and professional experience with tempered glass in automotive applications — side, and rear windows as well as sunroofs. Tempered glass - as i learned - owes its strength to an equilibrium of forces on the front and back surfaces. Heat or chemical treatment during manufacture gives it amazing properties. Impairment of the equilibrium during tempering; physical damage, thermal shock alone or in combination can cause destruction even at a later point in time. The “damage” causing the loss of structural integrity need not be obvious to the naked eye. I have personally broken side glass with strong, repeated blows with a regular hammer and have broken side glass standing 5-6 feet away without personally hitting it. Does this have any writing or symbol in the center ?

No....completely clear glass. It was perfect for glass painting. Fired without any problem.

What's the inner size for 10 x 10 plate?

The flat part of the plate is 8 1/4 X 8 1/4 inches. The corners are curved and not included in the 8 1/4 .
