While it is true that the original volume 1 violin work has a part 1 and 2 in it, it is normally not described that way, because it can be confused with volume 1 & 2, which are two separate volumes.This misleading description and the fact that this is really just volume 1 plus a few paltry double stop scales, a poor substitute for the comprehensive double and multiple stops material from volume 2, is the reason why I took out two stars, in spite of the fact there is apparently no similar Galamian alternative available for viola (yet the cello version is complete!!). The original is comprehensive for a reason, no need to leave anything out!I am considering transcribing volume 2 myself for my own personal use, though it would be nice if I could just buy it.

I purchased this after putting it off for months (because it's $40 for a book)! While I don't practice enough, it's amazing to be able to have tons and tons of scales all in one spot, instead of panicking to find it online before an audition. I really love that it's spiral-bound, so it doesn't close on you when it's sitting on the stand. The only downfall was that the first few pages' bottom corner was creased. The cover is folded to the point where you can't flatten it, but it's fine. I recommend getting this if you don't already have some other scale book. They provide alternative fingerings, and different rhythms to help you improve.
