We Love This Game!
We ordered this for my husband's birthday a few months ago, and we are extremely happy with it. It's a beautiful game, has a solid scientific feel within the astronomy theme and plays well with as little as two people. There is an app to download in order to play the game, which is a fun addition and makes the game feel more techy overall. We love this game and have played it many times since purchasing. People should be aware that it is not the type of game you can spend a few minutes glancing at and then know how to play. We spent time with the instructions, looked up online tutorials and even watched online video playthroughs a time or two as we were learning to play in order to fully understand how it works. It's not impossible to learn, and once you have clarity it's simple enough to play the game. I'm only saying that those who order it should be prepared to do a bit of additional work to get through the learning curve. There is also an option to play as one person against the app, which my husband used when he was first figuring out how to play. As an astronomy family with several telescopes at home, this game feels like a fun way to extend the skywatching hobby on rainy nights.

Great game! Became my wife's favorite game of all time!
This is a fun logic puzzle! You start with some clues and try to figure out where planet X is located. This is my 1st board game that uses an app. I was not sure if it would "bother" me or not as there is some polarization in the community about apps in board games. It didn't bother me at all! I actually liked it. It made the game feel modern and possible. The app handles the clue giving so there is no "game master." If you like deduction or puzzles this is a great game. There are also 4 different skill caps: Beginner/kids, normal, expert, genius. If you are new or a kid you get 12 clues, normal 8, expert 4, and genius zero clues to start. This helps a lot when teaching new ppl. You can still play your best and it helps even out the game. 10/10

Great deduction game
This is a great deduction and strategy game, it also has a lot of replayability since you can make it harder or easier depending on how long you want the game to last. You can have a 20 minutes match in the easy mode or a 1hr game in harder configuration. It works with an app that you need to download but it’s also very well design and works perfectly. It’s for 4 players but it works very well with only 2, which we love since sometimes it’s just me and my partner. The main goal is to find Planet X, but to do that you need to figure out where are the other objects such as gas clouds, asteroids, comets, etc. and in each game there are different rules that apply of where they might be position in the map. This game is not very interactive with other players, is more of you trying to figure out as fast as you can, but you do feel the pressure every time someone takes a turn and you don’t know if they are ahead of you or if they figure out something important. At the end they might be more than one player that find where Planet X is on the same turn, and there are point that add up at the end if you where first or manage to find more of the other objects in the map. I fully recommend it, it was a great addition to my collection and it hits the table more often than not.

Very cool game!
One of my favorite games that I picked up last year. If you like games like Cryptid or deductive reasoning games, this is absolutely a must buy. It’s app-driven which makes this infinitely replayable and it enables an AI opponent which is very challenging but fair. It plays and acts just like a human player would and like a human you can deduce that it’s getting close to finding Planet X by the thing it’s doing. In “The Search for Planet X” each player takes on the role of a scientist searching for Planet X. Everyone has a player screen to hide their information. They all have a sheet of paper that comes with the game. Everyone sits on a different side of the board which represents seasons. Depending on which season you are sitting will depend on what starting information, if any, the app gives you. Everyone will start with a few clues and they’ll all have different information from the other players. You then take certain actions on your turn to find different objects in the night sky, comets, gas clouds, asteroids, etc. You will do research via the app on the relationship of certain objects to eachother and every game these are varied and fresh. There are all summits or conferences that will give everyone the same clue at the same time. You need to pay attention and take notes of what the other players are doing on each turn also as this will give you some information as to what they know. Overall this game is very enjoyable and never plays out the same way twice. It’s also easily accessible via Zoom or other comparable video chat program. I highly recommend to fans of Cryptid or deduction style games.

Logic and Reasoning with an Astronomy Theme
High Tech. Game requires a free app that you download to your phone. Players can share one phone, or they can input a code that allows them to all have their own phone. Players can play the same game at different levels at the same time. Taking turns, players secretly scan the 12 sectors of space for various stellar objects. There's one dwarf planet, so if you determine that it IS in sectors 1-3, then you know it IS NOT in sectors 4-12. Research may tell you that the dwarf planet is not next to any asteroids, so if there are asteroids in sectors 4 and 12 (which is next to sector 1), you can use those two clues to determine that the dwarf planet must be in sector 2. It's a great way to learn the principles of logical reasoning and process of elimination disguised as a game. The visible sky constantly changes, giving players fresh opportunities to explore new sectors while requiring them to plan ahead to explore others. Simple rules, easy to understand, great for generating discussion between old and young for team play. No stealing or gotcha moves - all friendly competition. Can be played cooperatively or solo. App is clear and easy to understand. Very enjoyable.

Yes an app is used. No it's not a secret. Don't understand that review. The app works well and is a small part of this fantastic game. It also makes the game indefinitely more playable. Should you not want to use the app (or the web based version), then the developer has released files so a human can take over the app duties. You can find these on 'board game geek'. Anyway I love this game. Plays excellent at two players and solo mode is a good challenge too with various levels of difficulty to try out.
