Little Brown Bear must learn how to stop sucking his thumb now that he's getting bigger. It's not easy, but Little Brown Bear finds some fun tricks to help him adjust. Review: Very cute - I bought this to open up conversations about stopping thumb-sucking for my 3-year-old. She loved the book. We read it probably 12 times the first time I showed it to her, and she asked to sleep with the book. Approaches thumb sucking logically and “thumbs up brown bear” is more of a positive affirmation reminder than a scold, which I appreciate. Review: Cute and simple book; but it helps. - My 5 year old has just started the process of stopping sucking her thumb. We tried when she was 3 with no luck and then the pandemic hit and anything to help calm and sooth her was good with me. I wish that I had know about this book earlier. It is super simple and cute, but it gets the point across. It won't stop the sucking on its own, but it gives us a way to talk about it. I change the brother in the book to a sister because I have two girls and when I see my youngest going for her thumb i say, "thumbs up, Brown Bear." and she is aware. I would buy this book again and highly recommend it.

Great book!
This book is so adorable. It’s simple and straight forward language helps even young kids (my gal is under 2) grasp the concept quickly. I love that it’s hard cover and the imagery is clear. We purchased a few books about thumb sucking and this is the only one that stuck!

Good book-
I’m not gonna tell you that this solved our child’s stump sucking problem, but I would say that it aids in the process! Especially for a kid who wants to be grown-up it’s a great way to start the conversation. We ended up having to take other measures in order to stop the thumb sucking, but this was a fun way to start talking about it with our daughter. I would recommend

Magical Book
My precious grandson got into the bad habit of sacking his thumb. Saw this book purporting to teach children to stop that and, frankly was skeptical that it would produce the desired result. Imagine my surprise to find that it absolutely worked. After just several readings along with the "two thumbs up" verbal encouragement taught by the book, my grandson started to stop sacking his thumb. Now, several weeks later, he has rid himself of the habit completely. He is as proud of himself as we are of him. Highly recommended.

Simple but alright
Good simple book. Personally im not a fan of the stuffy flying on the last page because son always comments on it and we're trying to get rid of the throwing toy habit. My son does thumbs up bear to stop sucking but it isn't helping at all with stopping the habit because he'll immediately go back to it. Hopefully over time it'll sink in. Not a lot of books to help with this topic out there

Two thumbs up for Thumbs Up, Brown Bear!
My 4.5 year old has been a thumbsucker since birth. We never really worried about it and figured she'd grow out of it when she was older - from 2.5, she would only do it at night or at naptime, so it wasn't a constant occurrence. That was fine, until a month ago, when she had a bad eczema flare-up on her hands that required a topical steroid. Thumb sucking became a no-no, and I panicked. I bought this book and some bitter nail polish. The nail polish didn't seem to help, but this book? Totally worked. She now self-corrects whenever she gets the urge, and throws both hands up and says, "Thumbs up, Brown Bear!" The book is so sweet, and my daughter loves that Brown Bear has a little stuffed bear just like she does. She can read the book by herself now, as the rhythm and repetition are perfect for early readers. Definitely will now recommend to anyone with a thumb sucking kid.

Create awareness
Great book for self awareness! Simple illustrations explain how the baby bear stopped sucking his thumb. Whenever my son puts his thumb in mouth we say, "thumbs up brown bear!" And it works.

Great book
Great book. The pictures are a bit poor as the emotions on the bears face do not match the story. We use it as a way to help reduce thumb sucking but often make the story up as we read. Our little girl really likes it and it seems to have helped a little.
