Great for apartment measuring, short of a laser or slack tape measure. One of those items that you buy once, it’s well made and strong.

Apparently a tape measure isn't a good birthday present for my girlfriend. Not for human measurements.

Well worth the money with three separate locking device buttons to hold tape in place and non slip handle.

From the photo’s above I somehow got the idea this AmazonBasics Tape Measure was a mini-sized version but the 8m length should have given it away. Actually it’s a chunky-sized tape with a wider than average metal tape that’s got good-sized numbers and is particularly easy to read. The case is all plastic but feels sturdy and there’s a non-slip silicone insert wrapped around most of it that helps your grip a bit, although it’s flush with the surface and would be more effective if it protruded a bit and gave you something to grip onto.As with all tapes there’s a lock you activate with a sliding button, but there are also two ‘hold’ buttons which lock the tape in place only as long as you keep them depressed. One is on the side and meant for your finger but the other is larger and directly beneath the slot the tape emerges from, so if you drag the tape across a surface and then press it down the button keeps the tape from recoiling back into the case. It’s a clever little feature that’s really only occasionally useful but welcome anyway.You might notice above that it’s described as both an 8m long tape and a 7.6m long one, curiously that’s because the tape is actually 8m long and is printed with measurements up to that length. However the Imperial scale maxes out at 25ft long, which is about 7.6m in metric, and after the 25’ mark the Imperial scale goes blank and they haven’t bothered printing on the last few inches up to the 8m mark, which is slightly odd. That minor anomaly aside, in other respects it’s a chunky, sturdy tape measure that offer decent quality at a reasonable price and is worth considering.

Brilliant strength, 8m tape measure with three lock design.Comes packaged well in a plastic bag, foam piece either side and then in a small cardboard box.Absolutely fantastic durability. Hard plastic outer case, in the colours black and yellow.There are 3 locks to choose. The large black catch pushed all the way down will lock in place, the tape measure bar, the lower switch and side switch. There is a rectangular shaped switch on the base of the tape measure casing, which when held, holds the tape measure bar in place. The smaller circular switch on the side of the tape measure casing, when holding this, it also holds the tape measure bar in place.The tape measure bar itself is a very good strength. It's not flimsy at all. It has an extra bit of length on the end past the 8M mark, there is also a warning when to stop pulling out.I absolutely love the design of this. Having two extra switches to hold the tape measure bar in place is brilliant, depending on which angle you're holding it at, you now have a couple of different options to work with.I would recommend this. I think its brilliantly made, seems durable. The bar is nice and strong, a good width, it doesn't bend unnecessarily. Strongly stays in place when needed. One of the better quality tape measures.

I'm not the most handy person out there, but this was great for measuring everything with interior designing for my new place and for everyday needs. It's compact, accurate and good quality.
