Very nice hunting knife
For skinning and cleaning big game animals. Very nice knife with very hard, hight quality steel. Be prepared to rebevel the edge. Once that is done these turn into scalpels and the edge retention is boss.

well made knife.
I started deer hunting over 50 years ago and the knife Dad gave me was a Western. In those Days Hunters valued their knives almost as they did their rifles. Almost exclusively Knives then were Western, Ka Bar, Remington or Shrade. I decided many years ago to collect fixed blade hunting knives from these Companies and this Schrade Uncle Henry doesn't disappoint. Well Made, Sturdy, and very sharp with a good sheath with snap closure. I'm very pleased..

Decent Nessmuck alternative
Originally I wanted to buy a nest muck style fixed blade but I found that most of them were beyond my price range or looked too flimsy. So I settled on this as an alternative and I must say that as long as you're not a perfectionist this makes a good compromise for the price and the sheath is very serviceable and made of genuine leather.

Best part: the sheath
I bought one of these a few years ago as a companion to my s30v ($100) fine edged folder.Great pairing. Uncle Henry was TOUGH and took a decent edge.Someone needed it more than I did, so I bought another. At the time, they were offering the old and the new at the same time, so I figured id try the new.Couple weeks in, I went to hold it by the spine, and use the handle as a hammer, like I had many a time with the old one.Handle broke. They thickened the steel, and made the handle hollow.I might have bought the knife again, for the simple nice sheath and used the blade as a thrower (after ripping off the cheap handle) before they raised the price.I'll be hesitant to buy any uncle henry again.
