For the intermediate or advanced beginner
It says right in the introduction that this book is for the *advanced* beginner. As the title says, the focus is on grammar, and it does cover the most basic grammar points such as the common-er verb and present indicative conjugation, so in that respect it is beginner level. However, while new vocabulary is introduced, there does seem to be the expectation that you have some familiarity with simple vocabulary.I have been studying French for a while on my own and with assistance of apps and online tutorials, but feel I need more work on the grammar and refreshing on what I think I do know. I think this book is useful for that. The explanations are good and not overwhelming and the exercises are well thought out so far as I have gotten. But if you are just starting out, this book is not for you except possibly to augment another learning source.

Learn French the fun and easy way!
This is a good grammar book. I use it along with Duolingo. It gives me more detail on how the French language works. I enjoy working on the work sheets where you fill in the answers. It has a good glossary and gives you the answers in the back so you know if you are right. Good Book!

Great for refreshing my French
I took French class (through AP French) in high school many years ago and it has been a long time since I have practiced speaking the language. This book has refreshed me on key grammar rules and I enjoy the level of practice that each chapter provides. I am hopeful that I will continue with it and advance into the next book!

Not for beginners, good for intermediate learners.
Great workbook, but with a couple of misses.First of all, this is not for beginners. The book claims it's on the border between beginner and intermediate, but I'd put it squarely in intermediate. The instructions are in French, and the lessons make a lot of assumptions. I've completed both the Babbel and Duolingo French lessons, and even I've been stumped a few times.Secondly, this workbook author makes the same mistake that commonly occurs in books like this. She explains the rules, she gives some examples and then proceeds to use oddball elements in the drills. I'm currently in Chapter 8, the Imparfait, and the drills are various conjugation challenges. The problem is she threw in wildly irregular verbs in the earliest drills. That's all fine if you have Reverso or some other app running on a handy smartphone, but it gets very frustrating when you follow a grammar rule, and you're wrong, over and over again. On the whole - a great challenge for someone in the intermediate range of the language, but expect to struggle if you're not.

Great resource for late beginner/early intermediate learners
The explanations of grammatical rules are concise and easy to follow assuming you already have some experience with the language. Beyond grammar, the book is great for building vocabulary.

Not Clearly Marked As Used
I paid over $20 for this book thinking it was new, it is not, it was written and worn. Very Unhappy with Amazon and Seller. 3 Stars because it is a good book.
