The product looks like it is well made and if I had the right year Jeep TJ it would have fit. I ordered it because I saw TJ listed in the title description but after I got it I knew it would not fit and according to the listing (further down) 1996-1999 and some 2000 Jeep TJs they use a different part found here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BM6Y811/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Gave the 5 stars as the product looked well made and shipped super fast. I did end up returning it and buying the correct part for the 1997. Totally my fault for not reading past the title of the product.

Worked perfectly. Snapped right in and holds very strongly.

As mentioned in other reviews, you have to insert the top piece into the hood first, then connect the bottom piece. If you connect the two halves beforehand, it won't fit. Makes sense if you look at the design. I spent a minute or so being frustrated/confused as others weren't reporting the same issue.Beyond that, it works perfectly. We'll see about longevity.

Reviews state that you need to install a certain way... in no way does this fit. The hole for the 97 is a small round hole in the hood. This is obviously not round or small. Had to cut and epoxy in place to make it "work".

Easy to install,works great, little pricey for what it is.

The OEM clip was $35 this clip is exactly the same for a fraction of the cost

I got this part to work after much custom fabrication. There are 2 pieces: one that goes into the metal prop rod hole under the hood as a retainer and has a female opening, also there is a the prop rod clip itself which has a male end that pushes into the retainer clip. The little retainer clip is supposed to catch on a ridge on the male end of the prop rod clip and the ridge wasn’t formed well enough(or in the right place to hold in the prop rod clip, it kept slipping out and coming apart. I used a razor knife to cut the plastic on the male insert to make it click into place on the retainer. Took about 45 minutes to get it just right. I’m not even sure if this would have worked if the plastic WAS formed properly. It seemed to be an engineering issue.

I got tired of the rod flopping around and bit the bullet. These are shockingly expensive for what they are so get them on sale. Given the two piece design they don’t come apart easy and are destroyed in the process. Removing the old piece (I assume OEM) was still tough and pliable. New piece went in well but felt more ‘plasticky’ and may becoming brittle over time. Will update if it falls prematurely.
