Focal PS165F3E | 16,5cm 3-Wege Lautsprecher System

It’s really hard to find information about these speakers online ! I did a lot of research before buying because I did not know if they would be worth the price tag. Spoiler Alert: THEY ARE ! My main concern was that these speaker tweeter would be “bright” aka loud and fatiguing, which a lot of people had voiced their concern about. they are NOT at all. The sound is perfectly balanced and I have the tweeter placed on the A pillars on Axis to ear level. The sound is pleasant and not fatiguing and you have the option to turn the tweeter down -3db which made it blend more with the rest of the component set. The bass on these speakers is insanely good, the woofer and mid hit very deep and punchy bass ! I even set the crossover frequency to 20hz and turned off my subwoofer and it was difficult to tell that I even turned the subwoofer off because of how deep and rich these speakers are able to hit the bass. they can get insanely loud while still sounding clear full and dynamic. i upgraded to this from an Alpine R series set which I thought sounded good but these new speakers blew my alpines out of the water. I’ll put it this way. In my Prius 2016 the PS165 f3e made it feel as if I had upgraded car stock speakers all over again. These speakers are popular with audiophiles so another concern of mine was active or passive crossover. I gotta say I’m running these with the stock passive crossover and they sound amazing. I was concerned that if I didn’t run these with an active crossover that they wouldn’t sound good but the passive crossover does a great job. I have the woofers in stock door location mids in the dash and tweeters in a pillar.
