So far, so good!
I've had this for about 2 months and really used it twice, but so far it does what I need it to do. I got this to look after my cat while I was away for a few days. I still had someone check up on her every day but it gave me piece of mind, which is what I needed! Installation is super easy with the app and the picture quality is great. Night vision works well too. The sound detector function works, but I can't say it works well? It's supposed to alert you when the camera detects noise, like if your dog barks. Sometimes it seems to alert me of the smallest noises and then it won't alert me at all when my cat sitter stops by and she's actually talking loudly. I did have an issue with it disconnecting from wifi while I was away and I had to have someone connect it for me since I could not do it while I was away. (Also good to know!) Makes sense you'd have to be on the same wifi to connect the camera. Lastly, the function to talk to your pet and hear your pet simultaneously does not work for me. There's too much feedback happening in my phone to be able to listen and talk. I basically have to mute sound in order to talk, and then mute myself in order to hear. Not the best, but it's not a deal breaker since my cat is a cat and doesn't listen to commands anyway. Price is also good. Seemed like an affordable option with pretty good reviews.

Perfect Basic Pet Camera!
Little camera that has worked well for me. I got one over a year ago, and I've added another one now. The setup can't be easier, and I love the ease of the app. It is straight forward and simple. It has been a great camera overall for the cost. The sound detection and motion detection work well, but can take a bit of trail and error to get the sensitivity to your needs. You can also adjust the notifications you get from it as well. The picture quality is great for the price you pay. I can't review the additional features that you pay extra for as I have a tight budget, but even without those features its been the perfect pet cam for my little furry babies.

Great Price for an Impressive Camera
After seeing my frustrations with my previous review, Petcube reached out to me and I decided to give it another try. I was hoping this meant they updated the older app on my Nexus 7 but whenever I checked it still hasn't. Despite that, I am happy to say that I have successfully connected the device using the app on my phone. It took a little thinking but here's how I did it: - Opened the app and selected "Add camera" - Selected Petcube Cam - Followed the instructions by plugging it in and pressing the button on the bottom until the unit says "Ready for setup" - Here's the tricky part. I went as far away from the Petcube Cam as I could and still have WiFi connected (around 80 feet in my backyard) - Opened the WiFi network settings on my phone and forgot it - Re-added the network. Since I was so far away it dropped me from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz - It then asked me to scan a QR code on my phone with the Petcube Cam so I went back inside - Once I scanned the QR code the device was ready to go within 30 seconds! I've had it up for a few hours and I'm happy with the device now. It's compact, lightweight and way easier to get the angle you want with the adjustable stand. It comes with a magnetic base and a metal ring that you can screw into the wall. It also comes with double sided 3M tape if you don't want to put a hole in the wall. The video, sound and night vision all work really well. I don't really miss the laser pointer, it never worked well for me with my other units so I was always turning it off. The field of view isn't as wide as my other Petcube cameras but the features you do get for the price make this is an amazing deal and I would buy another one. One of the biggest complaints I have is that this camera seems to guide you towards the subscription service. Unlike the previous Petcube cameras, you can't save the videos directly to your device without a subscription. You have to hit the share button and then save it to something like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc or email it to yourself. Not a deal-breaker but a tedious task to get your clips saved. ---Previous Review--- I really wanted to like it. I have 2 other Petcube cameras and was excited when I was emailed about the new device. The compact size, magnet and adjustable stand were the things that convinced me to hit the purchase button. I did see in the description that the device only connects to 2.4ghz and not 5ghz wifi. I have other smart plugs that that are the same, but I just use my old Nexus 7 and connect them with no problems. Once the package arrived the frustration began. The Petcube app is no longer supports the Nexus 7 and there's no way to update so I couldn't setup the cam. I searched around the house and found a 4 year old Kindle Fire and the Petcube app there hasn't been updated since 2014. Rather than go through any more frustration, I sent it back for a refund. Here's my advice before you purchase: Download and open the Petcube app on the device you plan to setup this camera on 2.4ghz network. Click the "Add camera" button. If you see the Petcube Cam in the devices list, then you should be safe to purchase without the frustration. If the device is not listed, don't order unless you need a paperweight.

Pawsitively Perfect Pet Camera!
I must say, it's been a game-changer for keeping an eye on my furry friend. Setting it up was a breeze – even for someone like me who isn't tech-savvy. The straightforward instructions and user-friendly interface made the entire process a walk in the park. What impressed me the most is the outstanding picture quality. The camera delivers crystal-clear images, allowing me to see every adorable detail of my pet's antics. Whether it's a playful romp or a nap, the camera captures it all in vibrant color and sharp resolution. Reliability is key when it comes to monitoring your pet remotely, and this camera has not disappointed. I appreciate the consistent and stable connection, ensuring that I can check in on my pet whenever I want without any glitches. The real-time streaming provides peace of mind, especially during those long hours at work or when running errands. And let's talk about the price – it's incredibly affordable! I was pleasantly surprised at the value for money this pet camera offers. In comparison to other options on the market, this one stands out for its budget-friendly price tag without compromising on performance.

Great For Catching Wayward Pets!
I took a chance after reading the reviews and am happy with it. I can get all 90° of my kitchen from the corner. I like that you can set it to a pet’s sound for notifications (mine goes “woof-woof” and it’s cute). It does catch people too (bummer!) and loud enough noises but it tells you in the notification if it’s motion or sound which is awesome! I sleep late so my husband unplugs or hides it so it won’t detect him going in and out of the kitchen and the notifications won’t wake me up but then forgets to put it back or plug it back in when he leaves for work. It will still send notifications but not make any alarm if your phone is set to Do Not Disturb mode which is also a nice feature. The picture is pretty clear for facing two windows. I dropped it about a foot onto its front lens and it didn’t crack, break, glitch, error or anything. It still works perfectly. I like the magnetic base feature and the cool metal ring so you can mount it under cabinets or on a wall. The swivel up and down is nice but I have to manually adjust the left to right. It didn’t seem to offer being able to move the camera view in the app. One day, it would have been nice to shift the view down via the app because it got bumped and I wasn’t home to adjust it and didn’t know it until there was motion detected. When I get in my car, which has hands free and I try to connect to the camera, it dials through my phone unless I shut off the WiFi. I don’t get that. It also won’t stay connected to the camera for more than 2 minutes if it goes through the vehicle. It also takes longer to connect to the camera, even sitting in my driveway. I haven’t had any weird squealing sounds when I connect like a few others have. I do wish that, when you expand the camera view on the phone/app, it wouldn’t automatically enable the *microphone*. I want to catch my dog sniffing the counters and wanted to see if she’d jump up to get something off of them but if there is any noise around me and I can’t shut the mic off fast enough, she hears it and leaves the kitchen before I can catch her in the act. The overall camera and access is free, but you have to pay if you want to access recorded video from it. It’s about $5/mo which isn’t bad at all - it could come in handy if you miss notifications or can’t access the camera quick enough. I did buy another brand but I am not happy with it. It only records in 1 minute increments, CONSTANTLY notifies you of ANY movement, has a confusing app that took me forever to figure out and annoyed me so much, so unplugged it and gave up. I would buy more of this PetCam instead. My two issues are these: It says you can share the app/camera but I can’t figure out how (the YouTube video is outdated, my app didn’t have the links or steps they showed) and I would like a way to OPT to be able to have the microphone be able to be turned off before full camera access if the consumer prefers it. Also, the USB to wall jack sticks out like 2” from the wall and where we have it plugged in was annoying so I purchased a flat one instead. Otherwise, so far, very happy with it. Had it about a month now.

Amazing for the price, but you pay for what you get
TLDR; it was great for what I needed it for, but has some serious downsides. I used this in my whelping room to watch my momma dog when it was nearing time for her puppies. Upsides: I love that it has night vision so I could check on her at all times. I also really loved that it saved brief clips every time there was movement because I could check how restless she was. Other upsides are- lightweight, easy to mount (literally anywhere- it comes with a sticker to help you mount it but I used a twist tie hung on thumbtack in the wall so I could move it for the best angle- the camera does move, but has limited motion so you’ll want to load the app & check your setup before mounting). It also connects to an app with your phone so you can watch remotely. You can also pay a small fee to talk to a veterinarian - a service I used 3 times! They could see her so having 24/7, unlimited, vet access was *awesome* (though not free it was worth the minimal fee I canceled after her her pups were a few days old). And lastly, you can reuse it for non-dog related purposes if you want. Like in a toddler room. Downsides: clips arent high resolution, app doesn’t save video clips, or have an easy way to export them for saving (I think there’s a subscription you can buy that might save them, but I don’t remember now). My app glitched several times and would randomly stop recording clips for several hours- but since the live feed is still working you may not notice right away- like the night she gave birth 🙄 I wished I could have saved some of that. Biggest downside- it needs to be connected via USB A block to an outlet (and the cord is short), which means your placement options are more limited, whatever you’re filming may attempt to unplug it (say, a toddler if that’s why you got it- cheaper than a baby monitor!) and so it basically takes up its own dedicated outlet if you’re running it 24/7 like I was.

Eh...
Additional update: the camera quality of the free camera that I was sent is great. However all of My cameras now automatically turn themselves off. I just go ahead and assume now that none of my cameras have recorded anything. It works for looking at real time events, but is 0% reliable to go back in time and look at what happened, which was the whole reason I purchased the products. My dogs got into a Christmas stocking and ate chocolate, and I was unable to see which dog ate the chocolate, what time it happened, how much each dog ate, or if anything else happened around the same time. Luckily everyone was okay, but the camera failed me when I needed it most, and also every single other time I have ever needed it. ————————————————— Update: after the previous review, petcube ended up contacting me and trying to resolve my issue. After several system updates, etc, they ended up sending me a new camera with significantly better quality. I’m still not sure why the other 2 cameras were so poor! This new camera is definitely much clearer. I hope to see an improvement in the “awake mode” as well. Overall their customer service gets a 10/10. Note that I was compensated for modifying my review ————————————————- I purchased this petcube as an addition to a larger petcube device that I already had, since I got a second dog and needed to keep a better eye on them while I was not home. However, the picture quality is far from ideal, 9 times out of 10 there’s connection issues (whether I’m on WiFi or my cell data), it hardly ever actually catches movement when I want it to (ironically only when it’s not needed), and the “awake mode” turns itself off at the worst times. The other day, one of my dogs escaped from her crate, pooped all over the floor, and ate food out of the sink, and all the camera caught was before she escaped and after she settled, when there was little to no movement. So no footage of the destruction! This has happened on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, I expected much more from this product and have been pretty disappointed.

Love this camera!
This model is such a huge upgrade from their pet cube so if you had that, you’ll definitely like this one! I had the old petcube for about 3 years now and I still use it, but since getting a new baby bird, I needed to get a second camera to monitor it when I wasn’t home, I opted for a brand I knew since my Pet Cube has been good to me. I was so surprised at how small the box it came packaged in was, the camera is soo modern looking now, very sleek design, and with a magnet attached I can put it as high up as my ceiling to get full view of my apartment (haven’t gotten around to that yet but that’s the plan), it’s as sophisticated as a home security camera and allows you to get wide angle view of whatever room you install it. It lets you know if it senses any movement, from humans or animals, so you’ll be able to see it immediately. I cropped the picture above for privacy reasons but you can see how clear the video is even with night vision. The previous model was just a block that sat in one place unless you bought your own tripod, which I ended up doing eventually to get a better angle of where my dogs stay but this model allows me to swivel the head. It would be cool in the future if we can control the swivel through our device but for now you have to set it yourself. Some people mention the subscription to save videos for more than 4 hours, I have never subscribed but I do save videos onto my phone before the 4 hour save, of my pets being cute, or naughty, and that’s fine by me since I check on them often when I’m out. This camera really gives me peace of mind. You can also speak to your pets thru the device and it’s very clear! I also like that the light that lets you know it’s on isn’t as bright as in their previous model. One thing I would correct is the length of the cable isn’t very long, maybe about 3-4ft so you have to make sure you’re near an outlet especially if you plan on hanging the camera high up. But you can also buy a longer cable online if you wanted. Another thing is the camera is super light so make sure your pets don’t have access to it or they may be able to drop it easily. The set up process was super simple. Overall I love this camera and I highly recommend!
