24 Metallic Embroidery Skeins - Multi-Coloured Glitter Polyester Cross Stitch Thread for Friendship Bracelets & DIY Craft

Until recently, I had never even known these beautiful skeins existed! I'm working with them at the moment and this was a new purchase.

Threads arrived as promised and were as good if not better than the images online. I am using to make Christmas cross stitch cards and they are perfect for the job. Metallic thread is notoriously difficult to work with as it separates and knots quite easily but if you keep the thread short you have less problems. Really pleased with this purchase.

Whilst wanting to add sparkle to your next cross stitch project seems like a good idea i can guarantee you it isnt. This stuff is so difficult to work with and knots of it's own free will, I think I spent more time undoing knots than I did actually stitching. The finished product is lovely dont get me wrong and I dont think it's this brand that is hard to work with it think it's the way of metallic thread in general but honestly, for the sake of your sanity ask yourself if you REALLY need metallic thread. The pack is great value for money and the colours are gorgeous but yeah, absolutely hell to work with.

So if you've ever stitched with metallic thread before you'll probably be aware of it being called devil's spawn and other such affection terms. DMC metallics twist and tangle and sort of snap at the needle end, these don't. They are fiddly, each strand is made up of absolutely loads of tiny strands of metallic thread but it means you can adjust how much metallic your piece has really easily. On my recent Christmas stitch I used two tiny strands of the blue with one strand of normal white for some fairy wings and four stands of the gold for stitching the star at the top of the tree, giving the wings a subtle shininess and the star the all out sparkle. It might still be tricky to work with for newer stitchers but if you take your time then I think you would be fine. You can work with much longer lengths of this than you can the DMC without the tangling and bad language so I definitely recommend!

As with all metallic threads these are not easy to use. However, a little bit of practice and preparation does make it easier. The main trick is to realise 2 strands of this is equivalent to 1 strand of cotton thread so if you want to use it easily, separate the treads to double what you normally use. DON'T try and sew with the whole skein. You'll have a tangled mess. The colours were very good and the thread itself was not as brittle as some others I've used. Plus you get a lot in the pack. Pretty good all in all!

These are a beautiful mixture colours and look really good when used.

Good range of colours. Have uses both for cross stitch and crewel embroidery. As good as the major brands. Will buy from this supplier again.

Nice. Really pretty, saturated colors. Pain to work with, but worth the effort. Tip: when you cut them, put a little knot on both ends, they come apart pretty easily
