Army Painter Wargame Starter Paint Set

This is my first time purchasing paint and painting miniatures; however, this item was a great purchase for the price.Pros:There is so many colors you can create with only this set. I am really impressed with the quality of these paints and recommend this as an excellent starter set for getting started in the hobby.The included booklet is organized very well. It even walks you through the process of painting a miniature and methods you can use.The brush is great for fine details so other brushes for the other appliance methods.Con:The White is pretty thick so be careful squeasing the bottle because more than a drop will come out. It also helps check that the dropper cap is not clogged.

Horribly packaged, great paints.One of the caps had come undone ever so slightly with some paint leaking out in the box. The bottles and brush comes in an otherwise empty thin cardboard box, ok for over-the-counter sales, but far from great for shipping. Some kind of plastic insert to keep the paints from crashing around in the box would have been great.For the colors themselves, they are great. The dropper style bottle is awesome and saves paint, and is spill and cross contamination resistant.The brush is ok for a first brush when starting out, but if you are serious about painting you will want to upgrade soon, use it for glue or other things.

I have been debating getting back into war gaming miniatures for some time, but have been generally unhappy with the cost associated with the GW paint line and the quality of budget paint lines. I stumbled across these and decided to take a chance, and I am so glad I did. I actually like these paints better than GW for the most part, particularly the pots which are so much easier to use and store. As a novice painter I found these very easy to use for beginners and anyone wanting to get started in the hobby without breaking the bank. They are also more than capable of producing professional results from the more experienced hobbyist. I will echo some of the previous reviews by saying just buy them if you are thinking about getting into this hobby. You won't regret it.I am attaching a photo of two miniatures I painted with this set. They were made using only paints from this starter set with the exception of the bases which used Vallejo Chocolate Brown and Flat Earth, and the varnish which is a mixture of Vallejo satin and matt varnish.

For those just getting into painting miniatures, this is a great set. It has a variety of colors that can be mixed and matched more easily than other paints due to the fact that they come in dropper bottles and you can control the ratio of each paint. Also, the set comes with the brown wash/shade that is the most universal wash/shade you will probably use (comparable to Agrax Earthshade from Games Workshop). Finally, the set comes with a highlighting brush for fine details. You'll want to go out and buy other brushes for broader strokes, to allow the highlight brush for only the finest detail work.This set is a really good deal.

Of course my 2 star review isn't for the seller, more so for the product itself, but it's a great buy for 20 something dollars. I was going to paint some Ultramarines, and almost sent it back because the blue was too dark, but once it dries it lightens up a little bit to match more of an Ultramarine theme.I didn't give it 5 stars however for 2 reasons. 1, it's packaged rather poorly, it's just in a box with a plastic tray and as soon as you slide it out the paint bottles dump everywhere. Also, there is a paint brush on the front of the box. I believe I was mislead because it didn't come with a paint brush, either that or I was shorted part of the product.

Perfect kit to start getting into minitature painting hobby. The brush is decent, good enough for your first miniatures when you may not be worried much about high level of detail.The only thing I didn't like is the white paint came lumpy whereas other paints are smooth and easy to mix.

Great paint set that included a decent brush. I use the brush more as a fine detail/highlight than anything else. The paints can be mixed to your hearts content. The only issue i have with the product is the screw on caps. When i was shaking the paint to begin another painting session I hadn't screwed the cap on all the way. So when i was shaking the paint again the cap came off and paint flew every, but it was fairly easy to clean up with some water and paper towels. Make sure the cap is securely tighten and there will be no problem shaking the paints up. The box also contains a "mini" painting guide so help new comers get started. In conclusion i would recommend this to my friends.

I would not purchase this product from the seller again. Every paint had a different consistency. Some were very thick and dry and some were watery pigment. I chalk it up to old product maybe? No amount of shaking or attempts to reconstitute it have worked. The paint does not apply evenly and just kind of spreads around. Spend the extra money on the good stuff. Citadel paints may be overpriced but they work beautifully.I asked for a refund and they advised I go through the return process. While understandable, I am not going through that headache for a 20 dollar bill. I will just take the rest of my money elsewhere. Buyer beware and all that.

I am perfectly happy with these, as good as any of the old Citadel paints I used to use. I love the dropper top which saves a lot of wasted paint. Glossy little painting guide really useful for beginners and brush nice quality too.

Great set of paints good colours great finish only downside it go long it takes to shake the paint (to mix) but a good set to use to get back into miniature model painting after 14 years
