What can I say, it pumps air.
I wanted an inexpensive air pump to move the contents of a sous vide bath around. The features that I wanted were the ability to control air at the pump, quietness, adequate air, and reliability. I was looking for a goldfish bowl size pump, so I started at the bottom. I've only had this pump for a couple weeks, so I can't rate reliability. There is another review here that says that the pump won't push air out of his airstone...that is another thing I can't rate since I don't have an airstone. I bought some 3/16" inside diameter hose that was silicone and food grade, and I folded the end of the hose over, and stuck it in a 1/2" stainless steel nut to weight it down. Then I clipped little snips into the hose. It worked amazingly well. The dial on top of the pump allows me to contol the air without a $5 gadget. The pump is as quiet as any aquarium pump I've ever had. It is not soundless, but the bubbling is louder than the pump, in my opinion. I understand that this other reviewer had a terrible one, but Amazon will pay return postage on defective items. Another possibility is that his pump was just turned to minimum, when you do that the air turns almost off, and the power of the flow goes down. All in all, this is a good cheap pump, and perfect for my purpose. I have no idea what else I could possibly want from a little cheap pump.

Not sure about the pump but love the customer service!
I ordered this air pump from Amazon. It was the first air pump I have had and I was going to try adding a sponge filter to each of my four tanks. When I got the pump I was disappointed in the noise level thinking it was a bit loud for a pump that is touted as "quiet power". I called the manufacturer and asked if it was possible it was defective or if maybe it was a bit loud because of the capacity. I could use a smaller pump on my tank if it would be quieter. I'm very sensitive to noise. And, this pump is going to be next to me in my office all day long. The person I spoke with, without question or hesitation, told me to email them and they'd send a new pump out to me. That was impressive. In the meantime, I got a Tetra Whisper pump from my local pet store to see how much noise it made. It was considerably quieter. But, it was also lower capacity. I hooked the Fusion Air Pump up to my goldfish tank and let it run. This is in another room. After a couple of days, it quit working completely. So, I knew the first pump was defective and it wasn't just my super-sensitive hearing. My new pump came in the mail, as promised. It's much, much quieter than the original one. I don't know about the durability yet. I write this review on January 3, 2013. If/when I have a problem with the pump, I'll come back and update the review. The pump is quiet, as advertised, and you can't beat the price on Amazon. I paid more for the Tetra Whisper 10 at my local fish store. I will buy more of the Fusion Air Pump 500s thanks to their excellent customer service.

Fine standard pump for a small aquarium
PROS:Easy to use and set upReliable over the past 3 months+Quiet (but not silent)InexpensiveMinimal vibration/stays in place while operatingCONS:Lower power pump--not for a large aquariumSingle air outflow--not meant for multiple accessoriesThe JW Air Pump 400 Aquarium Air Pump is a fine, inexpensive addition for a small aquarium. After canvassing a number of pumps and looking at reviews and specs, I decided to try this one. When it comes to selecting an aquarium pump there seem to be more viable choices on the higher end of the market. On the lower end, there is certainly a wide enough selection, but the reviews tell some terrible stories: silent pumps that are thumpingly loud, pumps that vibrate so much they won't stay in place, pumps that quit after one month. Additionally, it is rare to find a pump with an adjustable flow rate at this end of the market. Given that I am using the pump for a small aquarium that houses a single Betta, the more powerful pumps were out of the question. (I needed a replacement pump for the Back To The Roots Aqua Farm. This is a 3 gallon tank and the cheap pump that came with it gave out after a few weeks.)This one seems to do the trick. The Fusion Air Pump has remained reliable over the past three months. It has a single air-out port and a dial, allowing for adjustable air flow--something uncommon at the low end of the market. Is it completely silent? No. But it puts out only a tiny hum which has not worsened or changed over the past month. It connects to standard tubing and simply does the job. So far, the pump is reliable. I've had it for 3 months+ and it continues to work well. (Please note, for the aquarium pump newbee--always make sure that you place a non-return check valve in your air lines near the pump. If you don't, moisture can back up and this can damage your pump. The check valves are truly inexpensive and will increase the life of your pump.)This is not a major powerhouse--so if you are interested in running a number of bubbling accessories or you have a high volume tank, you should look elsewhere. It has only a single air outflow port. This serves my purposes perfectly, but will not work if you want to use a single pump for a more complicated aquarium set up. But what it does, it does well. And there don't seem to be so many options for the <5 gallon tank out there. Recommended.

Muy silenciosa
He tenido bombas de aire pero esta es la más silenciosa de todas y pequeña. Estoy muy contento con ella, me arrepiento de no haber comprado la versión más grande/

Extremely surprised! Cheap and powerful
I was surprised when I received this. It makes a lot of bubbles and not too much noise. You can adjust the amount of bubbles you want which is great. I use it to power a sponge filter and it was strong enough to keep a 10 g aquarium clean no problem. It's not especially quiet but it's not loud either. It's just average.I have had it running for almost 3 months non-stop so far and it doesn't seem to have any problem. It heats up a bit but nothing to worry about.I would buy again and I advise you to do the same

120V unit with factory fitted US plug
Well that was a disappointment. Having just reread the description, I think zero stars is a fair review. The unit is sold with a US two-blade plug that doesn't even fit the UK/US adapter I bought to use with it.A waste of £30.

not for uk power supply
this comes ready for the US and not te UK standard power supply. It went straight in the bin unfortunately as would have cost more to send back

BE AWARE
When this pump arrived I was really excited and could not wait to get it up and running, then came the discovery that this pump was 120v, I checked the listing and could only find reference to the pump being delivered from outside the uk. so £7.70 later and a further wait of a few days I have now got a converter so that it would work with our electric 240v. It is very quiet and supply's air to my tank very well, not sure if I would buy another one though.
