As several others have written in their review...I did realize this lampshade required assembly...but it's my fault for not reading reviews prior to purchase. For the price the lampshade is of adequate quality for the the lamp I needed it for. I LOVE the black/gold combination and it gives a nice warm glow when lit. The assembly is not difficult and I did watch the video prior to attempting and found it helpful...yes, it moves quickly so i kept pausing it but all in all it took me about 10 minutes to get it all together. Lampshades are ridiculously expensive and this one is of decent quality for the price...not sure if it is fabric? but it is a good buy for the price. My only complaint....as others have mentioned as well...is that the metal piece on the top of the lamp that goes on the harp is SO thick I could barely get a finial to attach and I tried several that I had...may have to just find a nut to fit more securely....also, another reviewer mentioned the white hardware on the black/gold lamp was annoying so she spray painted it gold...i may do something along those lines as it is quite noticeable but for now it works. Would definitely buy more of these shades for the quality and price point....plus it was kind of a fun project to put together!!

This seems like an okay lamp shade, but it’s clearly a returned item that broke during the first person’s attempt to build, who returned it. And then it was sent to us. Seems a bit cheap that it broke off, and frustrating it isn’t even a new item usable upon receipt. Going to return and hopefully it’s discarded and not re-sent to someone else. Oh and the “please watch this video before building” QR code was expired just FYI.

Assembly required but was not difficult. They work well on tall lamps.

The shade looks lovely and the gold foil inside casts a very nice warm glow over the room. However, I was surprised that I had to assemble the lampshade. (It's in the description, I missed it somehow.) The parts that aren't shade are white plastic. For $45, I expected metal. And I certainly didn't expect white -- if you stand too near the lamp, you can see the white plastic. Not a good look. It bothers me so much I think I'll probably paint it black. All in all, for a $45 lampshade, I'd expected less fuss.

I bought this shade because I searched everywhere to find one but just couldn’t find the right size. I have never tried to assemble one but I thought that I could get my husband to assemble it, well my husband refused said that I never should have bought it. I took it to my brother- in-law and he agreed to assemble it for me. I picked it up put it in my car and by the time I got home, I opened the car door to get it out of the back seat and to my surprise the thing had fallen apart!!! My brother-in- law told me to bring it back. This time he bought some gorilla glue and he promised me that this time it would not fall apart. He also told me that he used paper clips to hold it in place as he glued it together. I have not had any more problems and I have no regrets of buying it. The lamp shade is just perfect and I would buy it again and take it to my brother-in-law and have him to put it together.

Contents of the package were damaged.I did not need a video, as the assembly is relatively straight-forward. I had a little trouble with the ziplock installation. When you set up one end, you may need a second pair of hands to hold the previously installed end while you work on the other.Unfortunately, as you see in the pictures, two of the "top" inserts arrived broken.I obtained the base at Goodwill. I made the shade work with a little tape but felt it was a bit big for the base so I returned it. If I don't find another base that works better, I would chance trying to order this one again.

This was purchased as a replacement lamp shade. It was super easy to put together. Instructions are simple and it looks great. Nice quality. Would definitely recommend.

This lampshade is just the components, with some tiny screws and brief instructions for putting it together. It took two of us to hold the fabric part down while we tried to wrap it around the metal part, that kept coming undone. After all that, one of the metal ends were defective and would not go together. Do not buy unless you enjoy really annoying crafts.

Lamp shades are exactly as described. Easy to assemble.. would recommend!

I was a little sceptical at first and these are so easy to assemble (then again I like putting ikea together) and look great the only thing was my lamp had a thicker screw to put shade on so I just got a drill bit the same size and made it a bit bigger.

Material

It was easy to assemble but the item itself doesn't seem like it should cost more than $25.00. It does the job and looks good but I don't think I should have to pay so much for something I had to make myself....
