Great Rack for budget builds
Just alittle insight of our situation, The IT department at our non-profit organization is a very demanding one. We were running off of cheap workstations and cheap switches/routers for our network, storage, and servers. We eventually purchased a dell PowerEdge and cabled our office space with needed cat5e. The problem now was where too run these cables and where to safely house our PowerEdge? We had a server rack that was rusted and not big enough to hold the PowerEdge. It was a bit frustrating so we just put the server on a table and ran the cabling to a patch panel into a new 48-port switch. After some good searching we agreed on purchasing the Tripp Lite SR4POST25. And let me tell you it is a great little rack. I've been around closed racks all my life and deciding on getting an open one was a bit of a gamble but I am glad we got this. Easy to put together and pretty sturdy as well. The length of it is adjustable so we could properly size it to fit the PowerEdge and switches in a compact space, with comfort. Having it open allows me to work with our various patch panels and PoE's when troubleshooting. For a tight budget, manageability, adjustable length, look no further. Great Rack! Currently in the rack, with plenty of space to spare: 1 x 2U 48 Patch Panel 2 x 1U Routers 1 x 1U Switch 1 x 1U Shelf hold various PoE's and Extenders Bottom Shelf to hold APC's

Sturdy, Solid, and Quality
I'm using this for a home server rack solution. For whatever reason I was expecting this to come assembled, but wasn't upset when it didn't. The box was pretty heavy, and slightly damaged during shipping. The assembly instructions were detailed and made it pretty easy to install. My major complaint here is that the instructions referenced parts that *were not included*. There were 3 types of lock washers referenced, and 1 type included. After getting that sinking feeling that I'd just made a mistake purchasing this, I counted the washers included, and there were enough to assemble this for all the included bolts. The only reason this didn't really bother me was because the lock washers that were included looked superior to the ones referenced in the instructions. So, A+ for better washers. D- for not updating the instructions. Small things like that can make a big difference. I don't have a lot of experience with racks, so I was a bit unsure how deep to make it. Fortunately, it's not only adjustable, but relatively easy to do (I believe I loosened 8 bolts, adjusted, and tightened again). Overall it took maybe 5 minutes to adjust. Mind you, nothing was mounted in it yet. Hint: You'll want to aim for 29" of depth if you want to mount standard Dell, HP, or IBM rails. I mounted this onto the Tripp Lite Casters to make moving it easy, and I'm glad I did. I've moved it plenty of times, even though I'd only envisioned keeping it in one spot. Paying another $60+ for them kind of sucked, but I knew I'd kick myself later if I didn't. Overall, it's a high-quality, sturdy product, if a bit overpriced. That, and its flexibility with depth and ease of adjustment make me give it 5 stars.

Good, but not great. EDIT: not even really good....
EDIT: Ok, definitely not even good. I guess I didn't realize it because I had a standalone UPS and all my servers were mounted higher but this thing is unbearably out of square and I had to force a shelf unit into it to make it fit. I loosened all the fasteners (moving the rack so I figured I'd give it a shot) and while it measures the same on each side, it's not square in the corners. That explains the little gap on my servers sitting and not flush to the rail and why my new racked UPS has no gap to the edge of the rack while the other has over quarter an inch. This is simply not working for me and I'll be replacing it once I find a good deal on an APC or something. Original: Pretty solid rack for my homelab use but I'm not 100% about it. The side bars slide into each other and there's a surprising amount of slop in them with only a single bolt securing each that allows them to pivot slightly in the channel. I guess I'm just spoiled by the fixed racks we have on the job that seem better built for not a lot more money than this. I currently have this loaded down with 7 servers (about 12u total), a few switches, a KVM, and UPS and it holds up well. It rolls easily over carpet with the caster kit and I've had no issues attaching hardware. There are cage nuts and bolts included but there are not enough for more than a few pieces of hardware and the plastic protectors that slip onto the bolts to protect equipment are often too wide to install adjacent equipment. The nuts themselves are pretty decent - typical Tripp Lite B+ quality. At this price point, I would pass on the Tripp Lite and just get a StarTech.com 12U Adjustable Depth Open Frame 4 Post Server Rack with Casters/Levelers and Cable Management Hooks 4POSTRACK12U Black . It's similarly built and includes casters and leveling feet whereas they're extra for this model (I ended up making my own leveling feet as there is a hole for them in the bottom). It's not quite as good but it's definitely 80% there at just over half the price once you add the Tripp Lite casters to the equation.

solid build quality, great packing. dislike stock locking washers. one of the nuts was broken, had to buy a replacement at the hardware store. overall good value. wish that the caster set for this was cheaper, as it would be nice to have.

Both times I got this product, the packaging was damaged, especially in the center of the box, and the ends (one end was completely ripped off. UPS delivered to my neighbor. The first set, the actual product was damaged (multiple bent posts), and, after contacting Tripp Lite (as per Amazon's recommendation), they referred me back to Amazon. I ended up getting up a replacement product, which was okay - but I was worried about what to do if the box was damaged again (since, reading through the reviews, this was a common issue). The box WAS damaged, but not to the extent that original was. the middle was again flimsy (and on the verge of falling apart, as one end was open. Opening up the package, the parts seemed to be okay, but it was a pain to put the original back into the new delivery package. The parts are so long, they wouldn't fit any any boxes I had. Now to the actual product. The posts themselves are fairly well made, my biggest gripe about the product are the metal washers. All of them have a "split" in them, which makes them uneven (like a broken ring). This makes it so they occupy more space on the bolts, and also scratches the finish of the product. I was able to put this together in about one hour. I would highly recommend getting the casters for this product, if you plan to move it at all.
