Easy process. Follow my pictures for success. Conduct all steps on a scrap piece of lumber not on counter or table. 1. Punch hole in material using the metal cutting tool —the one with openings on the side and bottom. Place open bottom side of this cutting tool on fabric and strike top with hammer several times until you successfully cut into/through material. 2. Trim hole flap of material with scissors if necessary. Be gentle so as not to stretch hole. Set aside. 3. Place larger grommet piece onto short metal tool with flat part of grommet down against metal. 4. Place hole in material over metal shaft. 5. Place thin grommet piece over material and shaft with small round groove facing down so metal drive rod will fit down into small groove in the thin grommet. 6. Grab metal drive rod. Place hollow part of the metal drive rod over metal shaft and hold firmly against thin metal grommet and material. Again you should be working on a scrap piece of lumber and not a counter or tabletop surface. 7. Use hammer to pound metal drive rod about three good strikes down into grommet. 8. That’s it!

UPDATE: Found a YouTube video on how to use this low tech grommet kit. This is a simple DIY upgrade to a tarp where grommet placement is not where you need it or a repair solution if the grommets have ripped out from a wind beaten older tarp. More grommets will add strength to your tarp and help it to last longer. The simplicity of this kit is pretty awesome and the YouTube videos are definately useful since a written set of directions would be hard to explain how the various components of the kit work, hence my upgraded rating...ORIGINAL REVIEW: Because this kit did not come with directions, I haven't bothered to figure out how it works. I am fairly handy, but the operation of the tools included is not obvious by any means. Directions would have been helpful, especially tips/technique on how to best use and apply the grommets...

I bought the UUBAAR 100 Sets Grommet Kit to use on fabric. It was very economical but a bit tricky to use. I had to use a few pairs of grommets before I could really get it to hold, but I'm happy with it and it works.

I added a few eyelets to a skirt and corset and it turned out great. Yes, there were no instructions but with the tools presented it wasn’t too difficult to figure out the grommet. (I didn’t use the hole punch so I can’t comment on that).While the back of the eyelets are shallow, it didn’t affect the strength and has a more finished look than other eyelets I used.10/10 especially if you’re a bit more experienced and go through a lot of eyelets, because it’s a great price compared to the fabric store

I needed 2 eyelets in a cowboy hat so i could add a chin string. This was easy to use, worked on my first attempt and didn't tear the hat when cutting nor when seating the 2 pieces together.I'm happy with this kit and think you will be , too. it has all the tools needed - cutter, base plate, seating tool, and plenty of grommets. Take note, these are 5mm long necked grommets. I also want to use this on my thick leather belt, but i'm not sure the grommet necks will be long enough.

I bought the grommet sets to use on putting some reinforced hole in the fabric, it wouldn't cut a hole in the fabric, only made an out line and I had to take "scissors" and cut a hole in the fabric using the mark it left ... the tool for making the hole is not sharp to made a hole in the fabric yet my own "scissors" was able to cut the "sail" fabric I was using !!!

This is probably the 3rd time I have purchased this set of grommets. I use them for my corsets and they are just great. I do not use the tools that come with them since I have a pair of grommet pliers.

I watched videos over and over but I still can’t figure out how to use these. Plus they cannot be used outside.
