Audio-Technica HP-SC Replacement Cable for M-Series Headphones

Had my audio technica's m50s for 8 years now. Bought them used but still holding sound very well but the wire unfortunately took heavy beating with my heavy travel use. Luckily saw this and bought it and I'll tell you it's just perfect! Definitely saved me from buying a new headset because it's such a durable headset but the wires are always a plus to replace which reminds me to replace the ear pads too.. oops but I love it :)

What can I say about a replacement Audio-Technica headphone cable? Well, this appears to be real Audio-Technica, not a counterfeit. The sound is as good with this as it was with the original cable of this length, which my young child (also an audiophile) broke somehow. While I'm writing this review, I can't see the price I paid for this, but I believe I recall thinking something like, "Oh, this is too pricey [maybe close to 20 bucks?] for just one replacement cable—but I need it and I haven't found another that's cheaper somewhere [though I really didn't look very hard at all]." So, that's my only complaint. But I love Audio-Technica headphones, microphones, etc.—I've tried more expensive stuff on rare occasion, but I think this maker sells quality gear that's perfect for my needs.*.So, I'm happy with Audio-Technica, including their little replacement cable here. * Well, with the exception of one pair of relatively cheap, earlier issued headphones I never use, preferring the Sony counterpart for a particular headphone need.

This cord is an OEM replacement for the coiled cord that comes with the ATH-M50/M50x. It's a good quality cord, I only needed a replacement because my dog chewed the one that came with my headphones, not because of any problem with the cord itself. Being able to replace just the cable is a GREAT feature, and it's a great cord to boot! It's a good length, and the coils wont stretch out on you; I had the last cord for over a year and the coils stayed nice and tight. If you need a replacement cord for your ATH-M50/M50x headphones, this is the one to get! It's not worth messing around with the cheap knockoffs.

I would suggest buying the longer cable if you are to get this. The short cable is not as long as what came with my ATH-M40x headphones.

I initially ordered this replacement because I was having issues listening to music on my phone. But it turns out the cord wasn't problem. The audio jack was malfunctioning. I kept pressing the plug into the port or curling it in different ways until I could hear something. After all the abuse I put the cord through it still works perfectly. I guess you can take this review as a testament to the cord's durability. I received the replacement and of course it doesn't solve the audio jack problem but it works fine on everything else; and I bet it's just as durable. Quality product.

I broke the included short cable for my ATH-M50x headphones, stepped on the 1/8" side and broke the tip off. Completely my fault. Since this cable is already fairly short I didn't want to cut into it and put a new 1/8" plug on it (also the 1/8" plug on this is slim enough to plug into my iPhone while in a case, etc.) This is an exact replacement for the short 1/8" cable that comes with the ATH-M50x headphones. Only complaint is that it's not an inexpensive cable, however the quality of the cable is excellent so I didn't mind replacing it.

Lasted 7 months of light use in the studio. After 7 months it would only transmit through the left channel. This is unacceptable. Thankfully I had the original that came with the headphones and that worked fine.

Fits product it is intended for as described. Works well. Sound quality is the same as original that was bought with the product it is intended for or at least there is no noticeable difference. Short enough that it doesn't need to be wound up and hung up in place somewhere only to get caught on all manner of things.

Great cable, fits well, I have been using it for two weeks without issue. I hope it lasts at least as long as the original cable.
