LOST Encyclopedia Review: Amazing for LOST fans! - This is everything I hoped for as a LOST fan! Love the weight and size of this book, nice big pictures and incredibly detailed. So fun to learn about every aspect of the show, many things I didn't even notice at first! Review: No buts-this book is canon - I still highly recommend this book to anyone who loved Lost. If you want a gift for your favorite Lost fanatic, this is the only book you should consider buying. That is because this is the only book written with the help of the Lost producers. It is fact-canon. Other books may theorize what happened in the Lost world but this is the only book that tells you what did happen. "No great depth" said the previous review! I was amazed at all the depth and details. Just a few examples: Jacob appreciated Widmore's loyalty and allowed him to rise to leadership with Eloise. Jacob had Alpert strip Widmore of his position and banish him. Danielle arrived on the island after the Purge. Ben planned to fool Juliet into releasing the gas from the Tempest killing herself, the 815 survivors and the freighter crew. Plus it confirms things we suspected like Widmore being the one to execute the Purge of the Dharma Initiative via gas from the Tempest and the one who told his goons to slaughter the Ajira 316 survivors. There is very little on the flash-forwards. The 14 or so pages (text is limited to brief recaps) are tacked on the end of the book after the index like an afterthought. Given this is an encyclopedia there isn't much for the writers to say about them anyway but the placement is very odd. Know what else is odd? Apparently the editors didn't show up for work! I found too many instances of misplaced and repeated text including this gem in a series of bullets about Shannon; "Loudly whined about Marshal Mars dying too callously." LOL! It is sooo annoying when someone dies callously! That probably should have been "Callously whined about Marshal Mars dying too loudly." I also found overall that the text lacked clarity. Many paragraphs were poorly worded and clumsy. In places grammatical errors left the text unnecessarily ambiguous. It's obvious that neither the publisher nor the writers were up to the task of producing this book properly which is sad. Or perhaps the producers are at fault for not choosing writers who could produce clean text under a tight deadline. I'm still giving it five stars because the book looks great (all 400 pages), it contains a mountain of information that is all canon (which no other Lost book can claim) and it is relatively cheap for all it contains. For all its faults, it still makes the best gift you can buy for any kind of Lost fan from the causal fan all the way up to the Lost fanatic.

A great collection for LOSTIES!
I am a big fan of LOST tv series..., so i thought to bought this as my collection.. Well.., i am abit shock on its size when i received it, coz, it's huge like a file holder, which is atleast 2 times bigger than a magazine, and heavy like two stack of dictionaries... So.., it's not a usual book that you can keep in ordinary space in your bookshelf, as i had to re-arrange on my books on the shelf just for it. Also.., it's not convenient to read if you want to hold it, it meant to read on the reading table. As for the content, i am satisfy, because it has lots of information on locations, characters, items, etc, well done for getting those information all together in one book. But, the index and arrangement is abit.., messy, i have to say. Overall, it's still a great collection for any LOSTIE, great images, and stories, everything in the book will bring you back the memories of the island. :) {Title: Lost Encyclopedia | Author: Tara Bennett, Paul Terry | Hardcover: 404 pages | Publisher: DK Publishing | Language: English | ISBN-10: 0756665949 |ISBN-13: 978-0756665944}

Information heavy with good pictures
First off: don’t buy this book if you haven’t finished the series. They have no hang ups about spoilers here, which makes sense, but if a character dies, they will make that CLEAR with a picture and description. Not to mention every mystery is explored as well. Just a warning. Beyond that, this book is pretty good! I am a big DK book fan and have a bunch of their Star Wars books, I’m also a big LOST fan, though I only started watching after the show ended. I am a prop maker and enjoy the close up and high quality images for reference, and while I don’t plan on building any LOST inspired props, I greatly appreciate a bunch of beautiful spreads of all the hand made tools, dharma food packages, and other things like that. This book is more text than pictures, just a warning. This is definitely an encyclopedia, NOT a visual guide. I found it to be very comprehensive and covered all of the characters and events very well, but at a certain point I was reading and still wishing it had been a bit more like the Star Wars visual dictionaries. But formatting it the way they did allows for a BUNCH more information, and unlike Star Wars, they can’t do a book per season, this is THE book. So I understand. Despite what I’ve said above, I do still love the book and find it super enjoyable, I’m glad to have a book to re enjoy parts of the show, and it was nice to see things that go by in a flash on screen broken down in detail.

The Must-Have, Brilliant Companion to "LOST"!
The amazing television production of "LOST" now has a book version that will forever be an inseparable companion "bible" to it. The "LOST Encyclopedia" by Paul Terry and Tara Bennett is the "go-to" information source for all things "LOST". It contains back-story and details on every important character from the show, major or minor. The cross-referencing information is massive. And all of this information is compiled and edited in a very enjoyable and entertaining format. Beautiful photographs, graphics and pleasingly readable text make this book a true joy to read and to own. Fellow Lost fans, this is the book we all hoped it would be and is worth both the price and the time we waited for it. Thank you Paul and Tara for caring so much to create a book that will for all time be the "bible" of "LOST". We fans are forever in your debt!

My daughter and I just completed re-watching the entire LOST series from beginning to end. We still had lots of questions so we ordered the encyclopedia. We honestly cannot believe the intensive back stories behind practically everything that was in the series. The book is huge with tons of pictures, diagrams and information on the most miniscule bits of information that you normally wouldn't give a second thought about. Truly a must for any LOST fan. Good value for the money.

It's really great to have one of these Encyclopedias from the LOST series. I don't know how many they produced but the prizes are getting higher so I guess there is not many. The Encyclopedia is a very nice overview and supports a detailed look into the series. The characters, the places , the requisites and many explanations...I payed the lowest prize and got a version that is a little bit used but still worth owning it. LOST is really a series that takes you deeper into it#s meaning the more you connect to it. Sure some things are really twisted and confusing but that is the freedom of art and makes you puzzle. If you want a calm and carefully insight to the story of the Island here is it....
