High quality and excellent performance.
You won't be disappointed. The workmanship and materials are first rate. Easy to use, easy to clean. The grated cheese is finely grated. I've used it primarily for parmesan and aged cheddar. I've also zested citrus and it works well there too.

Perfect all-purpose Microplane.
love this product! It is big enough to use for larger things like cheese and such and still a breeze for smaller things. Very sharp, sturdy and comfortable to use.

Microplanes and crucial accessory
I do a lot of cooking and food prep at home. There are a few gadgets that are indispensable and my Microplane grater was one of them. I wore it out after many years. Other brands just don't work as well or last as long, so I was searching for Microplanes only. I didn't want another plastic frame, as that was what wore out on the old one. Probably didn't like the dishwasher. But on the Microplane web site I found that they make the "Gourmet series" that has a sturdy metal frame. Perfect! I checked them out in a large kitchen supply store and loved what I saw. There are a few other lines of Microplane graters (Professional, Home, and another with the Lexan plastic frame) that are pretty good but not as good. Not shaped quite as well, not as easy to handle. But one real advantage of the Gourmet Series is the "slider attachment" accessory. Only costs a few bucks but it makes it safer to grate food and it fits the Gourmet Series graters perfectly. Only costs a few bucks, too. And the prices of the Gourmet Series are actually better than the other lines. So I purchased the fine and medium graters with the slider accessory. I am really, really pleased with them. Great food handling, handles (cushioned just right) make it easy to grip and manage the graters, and the slider helps with the grating and protects my fingers. I've tried them on a very wide range of materials. Grates nutmeg well (especially with the slider), although I prefer my nutmeg grater for that (kind of shaped like a pepper mill), and handles parmesan cheese like magic. Grate for shaving nuts into a dish, carrots, etc. Haven't run into a problem yet. And they are built very solid. Frame is solid steel, but not overly heavy in weight. Some brands are pretty flimsy and bend after a bit of use. Not these ones. I liked my previous one with the thick plastic frame for that reason, but it cracked with time. Won't happen with the steel ones!

Best for Zest!
Fabulous grater recommended by Cook's Illustrated. It has heft which makes it super easy to control, makes zesting a breeze and avoids lemon pith. Highly recommend this grater for zesting fruit and shredding hard cheese, Very smooth.

Quality Grater
Very sharp and once again the America’s Test Kitchen provided excellent guidance on which graters were of the highest quality. You will not be sorry if you purchase any Microplane product!

Review & visual comparison of the FINE & COARSE Microplane Graters~ THEY WORK!!!
I have had a Microplane since the 'old days'...when there was just one, and it looked like a wood rasp...because it was? It has been great (Oh, the temptation to 'pun' is STRONG!) for garlic, ginger, citrus zest & nutmeg; I have absolutely loved it! Then one day, I tried using it on a block of Parmigiano Reggiano? It was AMAZING: the tiny, light, gossamer gratings melted into my sauce immediately and it was now a given that 'that's how I do it'! Sadly, time has taken its toll and I am presently recovering from two separate carpal tunnel 'repairs'; one with a pair of trigger releases...my hand strength is coming back, but the act of holding the "file" still and grating the cheese across it (The other way is fine for small amounts of zest, etc.) was just not in my power...and the bracing of the 'file' against the counter required protection; otherwise Corian scratches happened. Not good. BUT: We gotta eat... So I found these. The "Name-Brand"I know, larger area, comfy handle, and the padded 'foot' that makes for secure placement over the waxed paper; while one easily works-away at the block? They are 'affordable' (You are buying a fine tool, which, properly cared-for, will last years?)...Amazon had two in-stock and quick delivery, so I chose a "FINE" & a "COARSE"...descriptions that do not carry much in the way of actual measurement? They arrived, both are very useful; and have been used: "FINE" when I want the Parm. to blend in, immediately, "COARSE" if I want the cheese to melt onto the food, as a topping? The luxury of such fine strands has made these my 'hard cheese go-to' for Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino Romano; we are using both more-often, now! But what do those sizes REALLY look-like? There they are, with "Ol' Reliable" in the middle. As for the grating (From all three): Parmesano Reggiano on top, Pecorino Romano below my handy lil' ruler! I hope this helps you in your decision, and wish you many tasty discoveries! (I still use my Rösle Stainless Steel Fine Grater, Wire Handle, 15.9-inch for a larger, firmer 'grate', that will mix into fillings & crusts easier; due to the "sturdier" size <NOT SHOWN> of the cheese pieces?) What to do with all my 'demo' cheese? ~Some "Crispy Smashed Yukon Golds", with a fine coating of delicious!

Easy to use, not necessarily easy to clean
Best used with HARD cheese. Freshly grated Parmesan is far superior to anything bought at a typical grocery store. Won’t work with softer cheeses. Grated some whole nutmeg also. Worked fabulously
