No odor and chewy
When I was growing up, we always gave our dog rawhide bones. It seems like a fairly recent development that veterinarians have been telling pet owners to avoid rawhide as they can cause internal issues. Obviously, that makes a lot of sense. So, I guess I can’t be too surprised. The nice thing about rawhide bones was that they lasted a pretty long time for us. We always felt like we were getting a pretty good bang for our buck. Plus our dogs seemed to like them.So now that I know I should not be giving my dog rawhide, I have been looking into alternatives. These are an interesting twist. The bones are shaped like raw hides but contain more color. The color has not bled onto my carpets or dog beds so I appreciate that. Texture wise, the bones are tough but edible. They have a slight give to the recipe. For my dog the bones are fairly long lasting. He will usually get down to one end of the bones , then it becomes the knotted ball of an end. After that he likes to flip it into the air. While I can’t guarantee flavor, my dog does eat them and I would definitely put him in the picky eater group. The outer is smooth and there are no jagged pieces. This also means no sharp pieces can be bit off either. I would describe the odor of the bone as fairly neutral. All in all, this is a longer lasting edible bone. The bone seems benign and is definitely better for the health of my pup over rawhides. It keeps him entertained and provides a chewing instrument. The bone is also tough enough that it serves the purpose of scraping plaque off his teeth.

So, here's what happened.
I opened the package outside and my dog took one immediately. Then, he put it down and walked away. When I put a box on top of it, he immediately came back and started nudging around to get the bone. I gave it to him and he headed to the front yard. He laid down and started to eat it. I came inside and he expressed no interest in joining me. After about 30 minutes, I looked up and he was at the door - with the remaining part of the bone in his mouth. Usually, he leaves his treats outside. I guess this one was really good, which he later confirmed. He came in and brought it to the couch. It did not stain or cause any issues. When I told him that it was time for our nap, he grabbed his bone and headed to the bed. Lol. Yep, he brought it to bed and finished eating it. It is a win for Tigger.I am happy to say that after eating a bone, he has not thrown up (a comment event with new treats), no gas, no stomach issues at all. All WINS for me!

My dog is picky but these aren't great.
The scent of Smartbones Peanut Butter Bones is what really grabs my dog. I'd used the regular ones for years and that scent was always deliveredThese are thrilling her. She loses interest quickly so I'm needing to pitch a $3 bone regularly.I'm going back to the regular Smartbones
