Works! Bought a new house and decided to put this in basement utility room. Few days later on a cold day it started going off intermittently. Called fire station and sure enough our boiler was improperly vented to outside so carbon monoxide was leaking in every time it ran (heated garage floor). They also found a gas leak when here too so this little thing saved us.

These little units give a sense of safety in knowing should we have a CM leak, they would let us know. Obviously, unless you have one, you cannot be sure that they do what they are supposed to do, but I am assuming they would. They are easy to figure out, inexpensive, small, and have a sharp alarm sound similar to a smoke detector. I did replace my other unit which was 3 or 4 years old because the red lamp wouldn't go off on it and it says that usually means it's gone bad. Should the alarm go off, it gives a beep which is how it is "read".

Purchased as a gift for my young adult grandsons. Tgey only needed to plug them in to get the safety benefits.

Seems to work fine, although haven't had any carbon monoxide in my home so far.
