Quality at a Great Price
I have wanted one of these for years! I finally got it and I am so pleased. As I was doing research, I read that the ones with CF in the model name have a better quality compressor, that have a reputation for longevity. That's why two models that have the same capacity might have different prices. But, just in case, I did buy the extra warranty. Even adding in that cost, it's still way cheaper than Dometic! I have a Jackery 1000 watt battery and this fridge will use up about 15% of the battery overnight when it gets down to the 50s. I leave it connected to the Jackery all the time and charge the Jackery while driving or with the solar panels. I'm planning on buying the insulated cover to make it more efficient, but for now I cover it with a blanket. I make sure to leave the vents uncovered. It seems to really help. It's big enough that I can go a whole week by myself without grocery shopping. I tend to make things from scratch, even while camping, so there's a lot in there. It really makes a difference not having to use space for ice. I have only used it as a fridge, not a freezer, so I can't say how cold it gets. The small compartment over the compressor is a little bit warmer than the main area, as advertised, but it's really not that much. I drive on some crazy bumpy, rocky roads that test the 4L on my truck, and the fridge continues to work perfectly. I drive a Ford Ranger with the extended cab. The fridge fits behind my seat, but I have short legs. There will be even more room after I remove the jump seats. Also, this will fit in our Dodge Ram, 8 ft bed in front of the wheel well. This fridge opens from the end, not the side. That works perfect for both my trucks. I have only used it for two 7-day trips and it has run perfectly so far. I also like being able to plug it in at home and pack the fridge before my trip. When I only had a cooler, I had to wait to pack it until right before I left. Empty, it's easy for me to carry. Fully packed, I can handle it for a short walk from the house to the truck alone, but I usually ask for help. I highly recommend this refrigerator/freezer!

Perfect for already frozen items, still does a good job freezing fresh room temp items.
The freezer worked well for my needs. The freezer was able to significantly chill several pounds (12+ lb) of room temp fresh fruit and got it to freezing temperatures and the fruit mostly frozen (firm, but not like a rock) within a few hours. For reference, I think it would take more than 24 hr to get the 12+ lb of fruit hard frozen like it would be in a deep freezer. It would be excellent for maintaining already frozen items. Both the wall outlet and the car 12V worked fine to power the units. I am very happy with the portable freezer and plan to buy again in the future if I need more space capacity.

Developed a severe mold problem that could not be cleaned.
Unfortunately, after about a week of use in the car, the Alpicool developed a very bad mold problem. We left the unit in our car unplugged and there was already moisture in the bottom. We might have been able to avoid it if we left the unit open to air out, but as it was, mold developed. The real problem is we can't clean the mold. It appears to have gotten behind some transparent cover. So now we have a moldy fridge which we aren't going to use unless we can figure out how to clean it. We bought this for a road trip and are past our 30-day window to return it so we are stuck with it. When working the fridge did great. It has a pretty accurate thermometer, cools quickly, and the basket makes it easy to transport food.

Good fridge for van camping trip
Bought this for a month long van camping trip as I didn't want to mess with ice over that period. The fridge had good capacity and plugged nicely into the car plug. Noise level was low and power consumption was pretty low for the 37 degrees that I set it at. I liked how it kept the food cold while we were moving. The only drawback was that it is not well enough insulated to keep things cool when not powered. If it is not powered for a day or you are out hiking in hot weather and the van heats up, things will start getting warmer in the cooler (kind of obvious but I was hoping for better insulation). I ended up putting bottles of white wine in as a cold sink to keep things cooler for longer periods of time. I do recommend this fridge just know that it won't be keeping things as cool as your old insulated cooler when it is not powered. You will have to figure out work arounds to maintain cold inside but this just takes a little experimenting. I did run it off a portable rechargeable battery part of the time and it was pretty good on power consumption.

Flawless function
I waited a long time to write my review of this fridge. I purchased this fridge for the purpose of taking it on overland trips all around the mountains of Wyoming. I purchased this unit in March of 2021 I have been using it 24 hours a day seven days a week since. In my workshop while at home, and in the back of my vintage Jeep J10 on mountain excursions, or in my Armada on long road trips. It has continued to work flawlessly and has even weathered three severe rain storms in the back of the Jeep with only an insulated cover for protection. In altitudes from 6,500 feet to over 11,000 feet. It’s been powered overnight with a Jackery 240, and run for weeks off a lead acid battery hooked to a solar panel. It’s also extremely quiet with the LG compressor. I’ve even used it to take soft serve Dairy Queen blizzards at 16 degrees over five hours to my daughter who lives in the middle of no where in northern Wyoming on a 100 degree day. At almost half the cost of the big brands. Get this and spend the rest of your budget on some other much needed gear.

Great portable Frige /Freezer
The Apic Refrigerator uses only about 40 watts of power, cools very quickly and has the ability to either be a Fridge or freezer. We have used this in our truck on several trips plugging into the 12volt outlet in our vehicle. The unit also works well with the 120volt adapter when power is available. The control panel is easy to read and the LG compressor is very quiet
