Merula Cup Strawberry (Pink) - The One-Size Menstrual Cup

I’ve been trying to find the right menstrual product for years. I have a low cervix so generic cups eventually slip down a little as it fills and pokes out. It was soo uncomfortable and irritating. Because this one is so short and round (after cutting the stem completely off) I don’t have that issue. It hasn’t leaked once yet (on my 3rd day) unlike other cups Ive used. I’ve mastered putting it in, in just that time as well. I’m very happy with this purchase.

I usually use the xl, but sometimes towards the end of my period, my cervix sits really low so I will use this one for the last couple of days!

GREAT for low cervix/prolapse. Super comfortable. I’m not new to cups, but I have the hardest time getting this one in correctly so it doesn’t leak. Once I do, it’s fantastic! But the getting it in correctly part is tough and a little frustrating.

As a person who has had 1 child and has a low cervix, this did not work for me. I am not new to cups but am still on the search for a comfortable cup for a low cervix. This cup was very hard to insert properly. No matter what i tried it was too big and sat too low making it extremely uncomfortable. After lots of effort and discomfort i finally thought maybe i got it and went to bed. #1 it leaked. #2 i was unable to go pee AT ALL with it in place the next morning. Not good. I've heard others say it prevented them from fully emptying their bladder. Super disappointed to waste so much money on a product that can't be guaranteed.

This thing will suck your cervix out - the suction situation was not good for me.

Na die alle negative recensies was ik bang dat deze cup niet voor mij zal zijn. Ik was bang dat ik pijn krijgt enz. maar ik ben positief verbaasd! De eerste keer was het moeilijk voor mij om deze cup te openen en erin zetten, maar na meerdere keren werd het erg makkelijk. Ik heb nog geen kinderen, dus ik heb gekozen voor kleinere cup. Het is perfect! Het doet geen pijn tijdens openen en is erg makkelijk om te openen en eruit te halen. Bovendien het lekt ehelemaal niet! Dit is mijn tweede cup, de eerste waren van andere merk (ook M...una) maar die cups lekten vanaf de eerste dag, ik dacht oke... misschien moet ik ff oefenen maar na 6 maanden die cups werden te zacht en begonnen te leken! Merula cup bleekte stevig te zijn en... ik had helemaal gelijk, dit is de cup die ik zocht! De cup is van goede kwaliteit silicone, de form is goed bedacht. Het heeft geen gatjes dus zuigt ook beter. Ik heb ook geen last van bladder met deze cup. Ik hoop alleen mar dat het niet te zacht na een paar maanden zou worden.

New to menstrual cups, I spent hours researching them, trawling the internet for articles, reviews, videos etc before deciding on the nicely rounded shape and 38ml capacity of Merula OS. It seemed less pointy, proddy and therefore less scary than the ‘V’ and ‘Bell’ shaped designs. I ordered it at 10.40am on a Monday and it arrived at 3.20pm the next day. Not the Saturday like I’d been expecting. Free delivery too. Top marks for Amazon! After following the cleaning instructions, i inserted it for the first time (punch down fold - smooth edge up) surprisingly well. I felt a gentle pop and used a finger to help with positioning and check if it had opened fully and encircled my cervix, which it had. A little twist on the ladder suggested it had sealed too. No discomfort. I walked around, sat down a few times to see how comfortable it was and I could barely feel it. Unlike dry rigid tampons! I took it out without problems too; hooked a finger in the ladder, inserted a finger underneath to collapse the cup/break the seal and folded it a little as I zigzagged it out. There’s only one real snag with the Merula cup. I can’t pee sometimes whilst wearing it!! It does sit very low though. I’ve found that if I insert a finger between my pubic bone (upper wall) and cup, I can pee! The seal is not affected. It isn’t ideal but I’m going to get blood on my hand anyway so what’s a little pee to boot. Number twos are fine. A bubbling sensation alerts me to when it needs to be emptied. No leaks though on my backup pad, removal is easy too, emptying and rinsing is simple and reinsertion swift. Every time! All in all I’m pretty impressed with the Merula OS cup! Checking it encircles my cervix after insertion, I think, is key to making sure there are no leaks. I understand that women with a higher cervix may not be able to check in such a way but for women with a lower cervix, they probably will. Also, if you fold it quite loosely to insert, and only push it in as far as the first rung of the ladder, it opens easily. If it needs a little encouragement to open, I just massage the bottom. The assisted peeing is my only bug bear! Sometimes I can go, other times I need to assist! The more full by bladder is, the more I need to help. Once I got my head around that, I’ve been ok though. I also emptied a few times, without the use of a sink to rinse upon removal. Just used loo roll/feminine wipes to clean the cup (and me) before reinserting it. No problems. I’ll definitely continue using the Merula. I’ll still wear a backup pad whilst using it. It’s also very convenient to have in preparation for starting my next period rather than wasting various disposables. For now though, even with keeping using the backup pads/liners, I reckon the Merula has bought itself after 6 cycles. It’s made my period more comfortable too. I don’t experience any pains on days 1-3 while I use it (just very very mild cramping). There has been very little tenderness and swelling around my cervix. That’s what I disliked about tampons the most, the pushing against and dragging past my cervix on those days. Quite uncomfortable. I’d definitely recommend the Merula OS to women with a low tilted cervix and heavy periods. I would’ve liked to try the XL for my heaviest days but I’m not sure how I’d get on with it. Maybe my cervix is too low for that one. The OS was definitely the right beginner choice! Getting 3 hours between changes on my heaviest day has been fantastic. I feel I can get things done without popping off to the loo all the time. On a side note, during my research, I came across some info on menstrual cups and thrush. Basically, menstrual cups cling to the Candida fungus that causes thrush, and can’t be boiled/disinfected away. So, do not use your cup if you suspect you have thrush as you’ll need to throw your cup away, so as not to keep reinfecting yourself with thrush at every usage. Could get expensive!

Ich habe im Laufe der letzten Jahre vier verschiedene Menstruationstassen getestet und die Merula schneidet am besten ab. Sie ist die einzige Tasse, die nicht ausgelaufen ist, egal wie sie gesessen ist. Man sollte ein paar Tricks kennen, dann ist der Umgang mit der Tasse kinderleicht: - Einführen am besten etwas nach hinten gerutscht im Sitzen auf der Toilette. Entspannen und nicht zu tief einführen. Die Tasse sucht sich eigentlich selber ihre Position. Am ersten Tag meiner Periode sitzt sie weiter drinnen und an den restlichen Tagen weiter außen. Etwas von innen dagegen drücken hilft. - Die Tasse beim Einführen so falten, wie Merula es empfiehlt (es gibt auch Erklärvideos dazu). In der Mitte eindrücken und dann falten. Diese "Spitze" die dann entsteht mit der Öffnung nach unten einführen. - Langsam einführen und manchmal kurz mit dem Finger noch anstupsen, dann poppt die Tasse auf. Sie sitzt fest, wenn man sie nicht mehr leicht entfernen kann. Dazu einfach leicht an der Leiter ziehen, dann merkt man das sofort. - Beim Entfernen die Tasse leicht an der Leiter ziehen und mit dem Daumen eindrücken, dann löst sich das Vakuum und sie kann leicht entfernt werden. Ich bin mehr als zufrieden! Ich trage sie eigentlich den ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht und leere sie zwei mal am Tag aus. Einmal morgens und einmal abends. Sie hält länger als Tampons und Binden und damit gibt es weniger Stress in der Früh und am Abend. Ich habe oft lange und unvorhergesehen Businessmeetings. Mit der Merula bin ich viel flexibler und muss mir nicht dauernd Gedanken machen, wo die nächsten Toilette ist und ich wann was wechseln muss. Sie ist eine echte Erleichterung! Nach drei Menstruationen hatte ich die Handhabung drauf. Trotz Probieren und lernen, war sie immer dicht. Anfangs habe ich viel zu weit eingeführt und sofort höllische Schmerzen bekommen. Mein Muttermund dürfte weit unten liegen, damit muss die Tasse auch nicht so weit eingeführt werden und wenn ich es richtig mache, was jetzt immer ist, nachdem ich es weiß, sitzt sie super und man spürt sie gar nicht. Nach der letzten Verwendung wasche ich sie mit ph-hautneutraler Seife und vor der ersten Wiederverwendung koche ich sie 5 Minuten. Ich stecke sie dafür in einen Schneebesen, damit sie nicht an der Topfunterseite festklebt. Ich gebe einen kleinen Schuss Essig dazu, gegen die Kalkränder. Bei der 4. Periode habe ich mich dann getraut, ein Stück der Leiter abzuschneiden. Ich habe nur ein Glied abgeschnitten und jetzt passt sie perfekt. Vorher habe ich die Leiter neben der Tasse hochgeklemmt. Ging auch, rutschte aber manchmal raus. + Einfach zu handhaben, nach ein bisschen üben + Keine Geruchsentwicklung + Dicht + Lange Tragedauer + Spürt man beim Tragen nicht + Einfaches Entfernen mit der Leiter + Man ist wieder flexibel: Sitzen, liegen, stehen, Sport, Meetings, schwimmen... - Bei zu weitem Einführen können Schmerzen auftreten. - Bei Tragen der Spirale solle man die Verwendung unbedingt mit dem Frauenarzt abklären. Es könnte zum Verrutschen der Spirale kommen. Ich kann sie nur empfehlen! Ich habe sie nun schon 5 Jahre im Einsatz.

J'ai utilisé une Moon cup pendant 3 ans. À la fin je lui reprochais de " glisser " vers le bas de mon vagin trop facilement. Un petit effort, un éternuement et hop fini j'avais des fuites! Celle-ci CLAIREMENT ne glissera pas, je ne sais pas si c'est dû à sa forme ou à la taille ou à la texture mais l'effet de succion est impressionnant ! Pour la mettre pas de soucis mais pour la retirer... Il faut bien chercher! Elle remonte haut et donc c'est difficile de trouver le bord pour faire un appel d'air et neutraliser l'effet ventouse... Donc elle demande un peu de pratique.
