This is a USB 3.0 A (male/plug) to USB 3.0 B (male/plug) cable. Make sure you need a USB 3.0 B male/plug and not a USB 2.0 B male/plug. They are NOT the same, nor reverse compatible. USB 2.0 A and 3.0 A can fit in the same socket. Just depending on the type of socket and type of cable will dictate the speed. USB 2.0 Type-B cable will fit into a USB 3.0 Type-B port. It will operate at the slower 2.0 speeds. However, this is a USB 3.0 Cable, so if you are trying to plug THIS CABLE into a USB B 2.0 device the "pylon" on the 3.0 B plug is physically too tall to fit into a standard 2.0 B socket and you will not be able to connect it.

Used this to connect my 1tb external to my Mac. Worked perfectly. The cable is the perfect length. I’ve always heard to use gold connectors over silver, who knows if that’s true, but gold has always worked better for me. May be a mental thing, who cares, it works.
