Dexter always played his tunes straight. --- Of course there is some duplication with the play-alongs, in which the printing is perhaps preferable. But this book contains Cheesecake, The Stanley Steamer, Fenja and some others not included there.

a must have for sax players

I work with middle & high school students on his transcriptions. Yes, some are incomplete....but then that means the player/student SHOULD start transcribing them themselves. Yes....get off your butt and start listening and writing or memorizing. That's the way the pros do it : )There is apps/software to slow passages down (Song Surgeon & Amazing Slow Downer App)....and work your ear. Otherwise....who doesn't love Dexter???

Worst book I've ever wasted my money on. Why would you ever make a book like this? The solos are incomplete. Never buy anything from the person who wrote this book. They don't deserve your money.

Thank God for other sources to find Dexter Gordon transcriptions because this book is so full of incomplete transcriptions, most of the songs only have 1 solo choruses. In my opinion it's a rip off and there's even a couple of songs where the solos are not lining up with the recordings. You also have to know if some solos are original or alternate takes. Like I said starting out: Thank God for other sources to find Dexter Gordon Transcriptions.

The transcriptions are limited to on songs that Dexter composed which means some of his greatest improvisations got left out. Not all, but most of the solos are incomplete. One even omits the first solo chorus and picks up with the second. Very dissapointing.

I disappointed with this book...all solos are incompletes... dont buy it !!
