Q: Are you really sure about tenth of a volt? Manual says 1V resolution, and I own one of these and can't make it show tenths, DC or AC.

I don't currently have one of these. But, the spec sheet indicates .1A resolution on the current measuring (A) scale. All of the voltage scales have 1 V resolution.

Q: Does the screen light up

No it doesn't... That's my only issue

Q: Will the clamp measure current without splitting the wires (or using a line splitter) ?

Depends on what you mean by splitting the wires. 1) If you mean at a junction box do you have to separate the joined wires from the terminal block, device, or open the wire nut? The answer is NO the wire is slid down into the "U" shaped opening at the top of the meter and it is able to measure the amps going through a single conductor. 2) If you mean open up a cable sheath and separate the multiple wires running inside the cable from one and other? The answer is YES as this meter will not be able to sense the difference from the current flowing out one conductor from the current flowing back on the other conductor(s).

Q: This item said my car battery was 12 (car off). Is my battery getting bad? Does it show decimal places for batteries, like 12.5? Thanks.

yes it shows decimal but just halves ..have no idea if your battery is bad could be alternator check with car running if reading goes up to around 14 volte then alternator is good if reading does not change probable bad
