Q: how does it attach to crib? it says 2 inch max.....the edge of my crib is 3 inches at the top and smaller by the rails? anyone have issues ?

Easy to return if it doesn’t fit. Mine is 2” and still has another inch or so.

Q: Does this have an auto shut off?

No unless your batteries are low then yes
