Hamilton Beach 40515 42-Cup Coffee Urn, Silver

This carafe is great. No weird complicated parts, just fill it with water, put grounds in the bucket on the top, and plug it in - easy coffee, all day. Stays hot, makes happy little percolator sounds, is overall just a good little big coffee machine. Just remember to turn it off yourself. There is no switch or timer. Only plug. Short plug. Okay if there was one improvement to make to this it might be more than a foot or two of cord. But it is still a great carafe.

I purchased this for use at a concession stand for a Cub Scout event. It worked really well to make a relatively large volume of coffee. I got a full urn in about 45 minutes, and I received a number of compliments as to the quality of the coffee it brewed. I used plain old Dunkin Donuts ground coffee according to the instructions included with this unit (2 1/2 cups of ground coffee for a full urn). The ratio was pretty much spot on. This item is really a hidden gem. I was set to purchase a commercial pour through coffee maker for the stand, but the price was about three times the cost of this unit. This won't work for high volume sales, since it does take a while to brew a full urn and you have to start from empty to brew a new batch. However, for our low volume traffic it really worked well. I could see this also working well for home entertaining, perhaps a brunch or other similar get together. And while it does brew acceptably well for lower volumes, you really do get an economy of scale by brewing a full 42 "cup" batch. It's made well and just worked really well for our stand. I really like it.

こちらはアメリカの事務所などで定番的に置いてあるコーヒーメーカーです。 よく見かけるもので、最大４５カップが作れるという信じられないくらいの大容量 仕組みは至って簡単でサイフォン方式に近いものです。 容器に作りたい容量の水を入れてコーヒー豆をカゴに入れてセットするだけ。 さすがはアメリカ製という事で、日本人の感覚とは少し違い、 スイッチがないのでコンセントを入れるとドリップが始まります。 ドリップは説明書には１カップの容量で１分かかるという記載がありますが 25カップ作った時に30分かかったのでもう少し時間がかかるという印象です。 出来上がりは、注入口の上にあるランプが赤く点灯する事で確認出来ます。 コチラで淹れたコーヒーは味がいいと思いますし、知り合いの方もそのような感想でした。 長所と短所をコメントしたいと思います。 長所 1 価格が安い。 2 味がいい。 3 メンテナンスが楽 短所 1 少量では作れない。（１５杯以上から） 2 付属のザルは目が荒いので日本で売られている挽いたコーヒー豆 では落ちてしまうので工夫が必要（荒く挽けば大丈夫） 3 本体が熱くなるので触らないように注意が必要 短所を理解した上で使うのであればこんなに当たりな コーヒーメーカーはないと思います。 何と言っても価格が安く、頑丈な作りは 他に候補がありません。
