Thgis is spot on for an 11 YO girl - - - - - - the writing is great, the story captivating, and the characters well-drawn and shine through the translation from the original Japanese. If you saw the film - this tells you all the bits that got missed out!

Kiki's Delivery Service follows a young witch and her cat, Kiki and Jiji, on their coming of age adventure in the town of Koriko. Whilst in Koriko they use their skill at flying to their advantage and open a delivery service to help the people of Koriko. If you're a fan of Ghibli, as I am, then you may go into this book with an idea of what to expect. Whilst the Ghibli movie follows loosely what happens in the story, it has been adapted so reading this book is like experiencing Kiki's story in a whole new way. Although this book is written for children, I found it delightful. It was playful and chock-full of fun and interesting characters, my favourite being the woman obsessed with belly bands (iykyk)🤣 I'd recommend this story to children and big kids alike, especially those who are a fan of Ghibli like I am. With its 195 page count and gorgeous illustrations, this story can be used to brighten up a gloomy day💕

Such a magical story, many people will know it from the amazing Studio Ghibli film, and the story itself evokes so many beautiful images of cities, mountains, towns and forests. The story follows twelve year old witch Kiki and her black cat as she sets out to make her way in the world, but with her only magic her ability to fly on a broomstick what can she offer? What follows is a charming tale of how Kiki wins over the people in her new home with determination, quick thinking and a strong spirit. This particular edition is beautifully packaged with charming illustrations by Joe Todd Stanton. A lovely story for all ages.

For Ghibli fans worldwide!! a great adventure for my 8yr old which she has read multiple times over!!

Myiazaki did something right when he restructured the story of this book to adapt ot into a movie. Because this book is weirdly disjointed and ultimately boring even as a short book. The atmosphere is great ,( excellent illustration and design work for this book edition , ) but the story really is disjointed. Some bit are excellent, others drag the plot into places which are pointless. The sub plots that myiazaki cut from the book when writing the movie really are pointless to the main narrative and they drag the book into a bore sometimes. But overall if you loved the movie you need to read this book just to compare. Also this edition is really visually addictive and makes the book feel like its better than it is. I know its only the first in a kiki series but i have no interest in reading the others at all. But if you love kiki the anime i think you should buy this original novel. But be prepared for the original plot not to be as good as you remember from the anime.

This is such a great book! My daughter, who’s now in her 20’s loved it and now my niece, who’s 11 is enjoying it.

É uma história infantil, dito isso, é muito boa e divertida, se você gostou do filme provavelmente vai amar o livro, os personagens são mais desenvolvidos e tem cenas legais, inclusive preferi os do livro. Sobre a edição: é bem estilo paperback americano, mas as folhas são de jornal (são cinzas e tem até o mesmo cheiro). É um ótimo livro pra pré adolescentes, o inglês é de fácil a intermediário (a autora usa sinônimos complicadinhos, mas não tem diálogos complexos ou descrições muito extravagantes).

The book arrived in perfect condition. My 11 year old loves it and has almost finished reading it with in two weeks - this is a huge feat considering she hates to read, and only likes graphic novels or manga's. She loved the story line right off the bat. She needed something that was around 200 pages, grade level and no pictures for a book report, so this was a perfect fit. I would definitely recommend this! I will look for more books similar to this.
