Hydrocollator Moist Heat HotPacs - Knee/Shoulder

LMT here. I soaked this hot pack overnight (for first time use) in a hydrocollator unit at room temperature. It absorbed the water fully and was ready to use. Heated up the unit and secured the hot pack in the protective sleeve sold separately. Folded a large towel into four layers and placed the sleeve on top. It takes a moment for the heat to come through. I adjusted layering as needed (not enough heat? or too much heat?). Must check in with the person often, as the moist heat can creep up quickly and scald. I also periodically slide my hand underneath to make sure it is very warm and moist, but not too hot. Says 30 minutes max...I use it for 10-15 minutes to warm the tissues thoroughly before proceeding with the massage and that is suffice. The cut out hole provides some extra contouring ability to the edges of the body with layering.

As a professional massage therapist, these are good performing packs made of quality, durable materials. Make sure you follow prep and care instructions and always keep them at proper temps to prevent smelly bacterial growth. Store in freezer when not it use.

The instructions say to soak it for 2 hours prior to your first use. I soaked it for 24 hours, and it still. had not absorbed water the way it should. I was about to write a negative review, but I got called out of town for a couple of days. When I return, I was very pleased to see that it had plumped up just like my old one before it mildewed and had to be tossed. I’ve used the new one a couple of times, and it is great! Be sure to insulate the surface away from your body more than the surface contacting you. That way it stays ho longer.

Love the heat, you definitely need to wrap it in two towels because it gets HOT...But this beats the regular heating pad any day hands down... You feel like your at the physical therapist office... I cut mine in half and it works even better it doesn't get as hot I still need the two towels but it's just easier, it fits over your shoulder perfectly.

I have used these Chattanooga moist hot packs for years in my physical therapy office. They receive very heavy daily use, going into and out of the hydrocollator 10-20 each per day. They are able to withstand this vigorous use without any significant breakdown so far. The carry straps are a sturdy material and stitching is solid enough to avoid any early separation. Have been able to get several years of use without any real problems.

Pain the back, leg etc. Had one years ago, and it had a long life. Hope this one lives up to its predicessor.

I have a rotator cuff repair and the use of this product is the perfect prep for my exercises. Without the heat I can't complete the exercise sessions.
