I, too, want to know if this is the original game as advertised in the photo... Has anyone purchased recently and received the classic version?

I also bought this and received the classic version. As far as I'm concerned, this classic version is by far more superior than the newer version. The classic version helps promote problem solving and has an element of difficulty to support it. Makes succeeding much more satisfying for both kids and adults. The doctor cards and money (which are not in the new version) add an element that makes the classic version a more complete game all around.

Does this game come with the cards that tell you which body part to take out?

Yes. The classic game has the cards.

Are the parts supposed to be so small they get lost in the cavities? How can you possibly get these out?

The parts are directly proportionate to the tweezers that comes attached to cavity Sam

Is this the newer version?

This is a newer version. The slots are bigger for kids to get the parts out.
