It was good for 9 months. then the big Jar began leaking! (Butterfly emerald 2 jar mixer)
Butterfly Emaerald 2-Jar Mixer Grinder is awesome! since long time i was looking for a strong mixer to prepare indian dishes and finally ended up with butterfly.i have used few american made mixers, but none of them worked perfectly w/me.it is very compact and having a powerful motor. only thing need to be careful is when u grind rice, dal or something like that, fill only half of the jar. so that it will take only 5 minutes or less to get it ground. if the jar filled full, then it will take long time to finish work. its been a month only i started using it, so far it works great and my wife is really happy with it. the small jar is perfect to grind chutney etc. the seller was very prompt in delivery.******************************************************************************************************************UPDATE(11/15/2014): I had bought this mixer in January, 2014 and it was really running very good for the past 9 months. but unfortunately now the big Jar started leaking (tiny)while making batter or something like that.i think the manufacturer has to pay more attention while they produce Jars.since i had taken the square trade warranty at the time of purchase, they asked me to send the unit back to them and agreed to refund the full amount.Overall the mixer was performing very good (other than the Jar issue)and the seller also was very prompt in their dealings. probably its an odd issue...!

So far so good
I have been looking for a good Indian mixie for a long time now. At $78, this is a good deal. I haven't been able to find a cheaper option in about 6-8 months of looking for deals.I've had it for a few months now and so far everything is great. I have been using it to make smoothies, chutneys, idly and dosa batter, grinding coconut for sambar etc. and it has worked well. One reviewer mentioned that it's not easy to open. I was concerned about this when buying but my experience is that there is no problem opening it. Maybe the company has changed the design based on user feedback because there is a small hole in the lid which prevents the formation of a vacuum inside the jar.One other reviewer mentioned that it doesn't grind smoothly and leaves sediment at the bottom. The trick to get a really smooth mixture is to stop midway, stir the ingredients well and resume grinding. Sometimes this needs to be done a couple times. This is a minor inconvenience but I think it's worth it for the price. The big question now is how long this will last. I'll update this review if something breaks. I'm not too concerned though because Amazon sold me a $5 two-year warranty. :)

My requirement on a mixer grinder was 1) It has to be small so that it would be easy for me to take it back to India 2) ...
I came from India recently and will be staying in US for a short time. My requirement on a mixer grinder was1) It has to be small so that it would be easy for me to take it back to India2) Should be lower in Price2) It should have grind function so that i can grind masala's , make powders, make chutneys, make idli or dosa batter. It perfectly matched my requirement 1 as this is small one so i can pack this and take it back to India without issue,The motor quality (low noise compared to preeti) was very good, the steel jars were awesome you will not get this quality in India. The price was also very less when compared to other mixer grinder.Let us see about my final requirement.Grinding Masala :-Being a single guy i tried to grind small amount of chicken masala paste using the small jar, result, it did not grind at all, all the ingredients stocked to the side of the jar's wall and after that the blades ran empty. Jar design was poor, if the blades should have been little bit lengthy (1 to 1.5mm extra) it would have done a tremendous jobNext - I tried to grind with medium quantity, this time it grind partially but after adding more water to it made the paste, how ever it left 1/3rd of my masala ingredients.spilled the excess water from the lid's hole messing my apron.Lastly i tried to grind with high quantity , the paste was grinded with out adding much water to it, the paste consistency was also good. however it left some pieces of garlic and ginger with out crushingI tried to make a powder it was a flop even with the large quantity (tried to make rasam powder) .. do not even try it. the powder will stick on to the wall's of the jar and you have to continuously open the lid adjust it then grind, do this task when you are free but not in hurry otherwise you will be sick of this and will throw the mixer.Making Chutney, faced same issue for making the masala paste. Finally, Idly / Dosa batter, soaked the rice (3/4Cup), Dal (1/2 Cup) for 16 hours and decided to use Large Jar which was provided. I ran mixer in 2 batches for 5 mins (as i do the same In India with my preeti mixer) for each batch, pausing for 15 secs every minute to prevent overheating, the grinding job is average, the batter is not a fine paste but a coarsely grinded one which is suitable for making Idly's but not for Dosa's, If i grind further the batter will get heated and the fermentation go fastly making the batter sour thereby spoiling the Dosa taste, so i stopped further grinding. I settled for Idly's instead of Dosa's .Both of jars were designed poorly, these will not perform well if you want to prepare low quantity items. I am going to check with my mechanic friend in India what can be done to improve these jars. As i can not return this because of my budget and size constraints.

Stopped working after 2.5 years
Good grinder, served my purpose. But now after 2.5 years of use- it stopped working. I turn on the switch and it doesn’t work- then if I manually turn the turning thing it works. For this price if it works only for 2.5 years- I won’t buy it again. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone

very hard to use
This is a decent quality mixer when it comes to grinding. But it's also a horror at being user friendly. The jar is hard to take off, the plastic lid is extremely flimsy and the knob seems a little wobbly. The worst thing was that I somehow managed to put the rubber gasket on the wrong way when I was cleaning the lid. Then I nearly broke my finger nails trying to pry it loose. Zero marks for being user friendly. It does its job pretty well so if that's all you care about, then go ahead.

Good Indan mixer
I have been using it for nearly 2 months and am happy with the product. Found it to be cheaper than the other brands. So just 2 jars.I use it on a daily basis for grounding spices and wet grinding chutneys. Doesnt take much long. The lid is superb...very easy to lock and unlock.I also make idly batter once a week and find that the bigger jar gets heated after grinding rice for 5 mins.
