Microsoft Surface Duo 128GB (Unlocked) - Glacier

Full disclosure: I bought this device as a secondary device. A small portable tablet mostly for at-home use. And for that use case, it is an incredible value. It does take some time to get used to the form factor as each individual screen is wider than your average iPhone, Pixel, or Galaxy screen. It is almost reminiscent in width of the old BlackBerry Passport from years ago. When you start using this device, you start to see the benefit of having two screens. Opening a link in an email that just opens on a second screen. Browsing Twitter on one screen and watching a video on the other. It is a true multitasking champ. It's only been a few days but the performance has been overall pretty smooth, with a few frame drops here and there but nothing that is a deal breaker. I have been using this as a reading device to catch up on the news, manage my accounts, and so on. I will say that the camera is not good. It's perfectly fine as a webcam but that's about it, which makes this hard to recommend as your primary phone. And because of the aspect ratio, some social media apps like Instagram might present themselves as a little weird. This phone is just so much fun to use and I am sure you will find ways to utilize its very unique form factor the more that you use it. The gap in the middle does make spanning both screens a little challenging depending on the app but I actually like reading articles using this method in portrait orientation. So the bottom line is if you are looking for a secondary device as a compact tablet or even if you are looking for a good phone at a great price and camera performance isn't important to you, this is a great buy!

- Beautiful design, feels very premium to hold and use. - Once you get the hang of the two screens it becomes so natural to use. They allow for such a productive uninterrupted flow. - UI has a few bugs here and there but nothing to really worry about, works fine for everyday use. - If you're in the Microsoft ecosystem it is a perfect device. - Great for journalling, note taking, doodling with any Surface pen. - (Useful device for those with ADHD as it encourages productive behaviour and note taking) - Excellent as a secondary device, I don't use it as a primary device. - Probably the best reading device you can get. - At its current price, it has great value for money.

The phone is fast and responsive, the dual screens are GREAT for me, as this has become my primary device I can be looking at restaurants and have text messaging open to talk to the wife, and other multi tasking. The touch is responsive but even with sensitivity on the lowest, the back gesture always activates no matter where your finger is even if it's just a tap. Rotating the screen gives a dedicated keyboard which is nice. The swipe keyboard is terrible at word prediction. The camera is garbage quality, it takes to long to snap after tapping the shutter button. Also, trying to take pictures through the messaging app to share can leave you stuck in the camera unable to return to the messaging. Odd things are a lack of integration with other Android devices or Chrome books, and Microsoft apps aren't compatible like Word. BIGGEST ISSUE the right screen on my phone flashed green and now I have dark bars on my screen at low brightness. At high brightness the screen has a green hue on the left side. Service is also strange, phone will say it has LTE service but will refuse to do anything. Also NFC would be nice. BIGGEST POSITIVES good battery life, lasts me about a day and a half between charges. It's fast, for fun emulate with retroarch and rotate the phone, it gives you a dedicated controller on the lower screen and emulates N64 beautifully. If you want a phone where you can carry on a text convo and watch you tube, Netflix or tik tok at the same time, this does so perfectly.

With my kids in sports and needing to do some mobile work while waiting in the car, I read all the reviews and decided to give this a shot. I bought mine for $320ish which is my limit for a phone. It's very light and when folded is as thick as my last phone. The screens are beautiful and a perfect size for everything. Even folded back and using just one screen is a game changer - I never want a different size again. The Kindle app is incredible and reading books on here is a great experience. The user interface is shockingly easy to navigate the dual screens and you'll wonder how you got along with only one screen before. The battery lasts me all day. I highly recommend this phone. The camera is the main drawback, but there's no way I'm paying 1400 for the Duo2. Lastly, they've apparently fixed all the bugs because I haven't come across any.

I've had this for 2 days I think now and I have to say this phone is freaking amazing I've used it more in the last couple days then the Samsung Galaxy z phone 2 that I had for a whole year this phone is a lot more easier to use with one hand opened all the way folded whatever it's 100 times more usable than the Samsung z fold series they got I don't know about the flip but I don't think that's enough phone for what I want to do but this phone is freaking awesome I really really like it it's pretty much perfect I can fix some things on it with Microsoft but that's besides the point LOL and this also came unlocked just like it says I was able to use my SIM card from AT&t and my free government SIM card from q Link wireless with no problem at all it takes a couple hours to kind of get used to the way the phone is but after that I'm now using it more preferentially than my Samsung Galaxy s22 ultra which is heavy as hell and I hate the corners or my favorite little phone which is the Samsung Galaxy s22 just the regular one and out of all of these I think my rate of what phone I like the most is the surface Duo first then the Samsung Galaxy s22 regular then my s22 ultra there you go I hate it the fold but this is fantastic and the price is awesome

I’ll start by saying that I’ve been using this as a secondary device. I have a data sim in it and use it in conjunction with an iPhone mini. So as a singular phone I can’t speak to its functionality but I’ve been using it to text on messenger, browse social media and stream content. Media Consumption: wonderful, the OLED panel on this thing has inky blacks, vibrant colours, and crisp visuals. Watching shows, YouTube, and such is great and the speaker isn’t tinny for a phone. Definitely a pleasure for media consumption. I also use this as an e-reader which tbh I’ve never felt comfortable with in the past. Something about single page displays never worked well in my mind, but holding this like a book works perfectly. Manga in particular is great to read as the blacks are deep and the contrast is clean. I read through the entirety of Dragonball Super in about a month using this exclusively. Multitasking/Productivity: Wow, this is where things take a big shift. I’ve used iPads and other tablets over the years heavily. Whether doing creative content creation, DMing, writing, content viewing etc, this is hands down the best portable multitasking device. The separate displays lend themselves to such easy and functional multitasking that it’s honestly a wonder to me why more companies haven’t leaned into this. I never want to be without a device like this moving forward. Example: Have you ever been watching a video on your phone and thought about looking up what is being talked about? If you have YouTube premium for example, sure the audio continues to play when you exit, but the video itself is gone. On another android device maybe it shrinks to a window, or on a tablet a split view occurs, but on here you just use the other screen, there isn’t a compromise. It’s hard to explain but it’s something that once you use it, it makes so much sense and you’ll notice when you don’t have it. Overall fantastic, especially at this lower price point. I would be tempted in the future to make it my single device but for now in pair with my iPhone is great. I have run into a single issue, which sometimes it think I have it folded back to select a display, which is annoying but usually it stops if I close the device, wait a few seconds, and open again. There was one instance where I had to power cycle to fix it. Other than that, battery life, functionality and enjoyment have been superb.

I still use a cell phone for phone calls. This phone with a protective case over it can't be opened/flipped all the way back to take a call...It needs a speaker on the outside(non screen side). Without the protective cover, making a phone call is fine. However, this phone needs a protective cover if it is to last. Several apps did not function well with the two screens...Like the two screens, the apps were disconnected on this phone. It's really too bad because I like the form factor, the weight, etc. I am not sure if phone manufacturers know this or not, but people like me who have used mobile phones since 1995 look at the aftermarket or OEM protective case before making a decision on a mobile phone. Why? I've messed up several phones over the years by dropping them. As an example, the large iphone and galaxy, I stay away from. Because if I purchase a beefy protective case, it makes the form factor of the phone way too large.

Let me start out by saying that I have 2 MS Surface tablets and when they were out ,(years ago), I bought a MS Windows phone, so I'm not a Microsoft hater. When the Duo first came out I thought, damn.. that's a good looking device and it sure would look good with my Surface tablet! But I didn't like it so much that I was willing to pay the over $1000 original asking price for one, especially after the initial reviews that talked about how buggy and impractical the device was. But I thought those people were just haters. I kept looking at it from time to time as the software improved, the reviews got more positive and the price dropped. I finally saw it on Woot for around $300 and decided to give it a try. The device did not disappoint. It looks and feels premium, all glass and metal, and the buttery smooth hinge just says quality all the way. It's impossibly thin, even when folded, and easily fit into my pants pocket. The criticisms about the camera are sound, but I hardly ever use the camera in my phone for anything but snapshots anyway. I have a DSLR if I want to do more serious photography, and the fact that some apps are not optimized for two screens, well, it just wasn't a huge deal. I used the Duo as my main phone for about 3 weeks, and as I said in the title, I wanted to love it, but in the end we went our separate ways. My main issue with the phone is that for me it just was not convenient. I always needed two hands to use it, or if I folded it back to use it as a conventional phone it felt so slippery that I was always in fear of dropping it. I don't use covers on any of my phones because I like them thin and light, so I'm used to being very careful with my devices. In the past 10 or more years I've put a case on only one phone and have not had any cracked screens or serious damage to any of the number of phones I've owned, but with the Duo, I knew that if I ran it without a case it would just be matter of time before that beautiful glass body would be a victim of dropped phone nicks and cracks. In the end, for me, I couldn't find a good excuse to want to keep it. As a phone it was too awkward and as a tablet it was too small, I liked the idea of having the use of two screens, but they were just too small to do any meaningful work on. Great idea and good implementation by Microsoft, but in the end I think that the whole pocket-able folding dual screen device idea is more of a technology that is neat to look at, but impractical in use.

Quería este equipo desde su lanzamiento y logre conseguirlo estoy muy sorprendido con la calidad de los materiales, es muy delgado y poderoso a la vez. yo pedí de inmediato las micas protectoras de pantallas. busque muchas reseñas antes de realizar la compra y estaba indeciso de comprarlo, vi que por ser la primer version tenia bastantes fallos en aplicaciones, pero ahora no me arrepiento de nada, funcionan a la perfección las aplicaciones. ha sido una muy buena compra. Eso si, no es como un celular normal, el uso es distinto, es cuestion de acostumbrarte a las dos pantallas y a lo que puedes hacer con ellas. pero tiene todas las funcionalidades de un celular. al final eso es, un concepto nuevo de celular. La batería tiene muy buen desempeño a pesar de los 3,577 mAh, el procesador está de sobra, es un gama alta de un par de años, al abrir dos aplicaciones funciona a la perfección, lo probe con juegos y corre en graficos altos. en fin un gran equipo. cumple con lo que viene en la descripción, funcionó a la perfección con AT&T en cdmx.

Initially the unit refused to start. Wanted to return it, even initiated a return process. But on other thoughts, replaced the charging cable and it worked fine. Seems the cable provided was faulty. Rest all seems to fine. Has a nice classy, impressive look ! Looks very classy, exclusive and expensive. It's definitely a grab at the present low promotion price. All features, functions work as described. It came with the original charger and a bumper provided is a good initiative as an extra protection and blends perfectly with the exterior design. Only had to buy a charging cable but still its worth it, got it at a throwaway price. THANK YOU AMAZON AND THE SUPPLIER !! Excellent original product. Proud to own this piece.

A marvel of technological creativity. I used LG G8X Thinq duel screen mobile which costs almost the same to Microsoft Surface Duo but the later has several technical advantages including much lighter weight, larger display and slimmer size. Battery although is not upto the mark for double display but it's satisfactory. Convenient to use by one hand. Browser spread across both the screens make it a 8 inch tablet. On the other hand, two separate screens enable multi tasks at the same time. Surface pen works like a brush, quite smoothly. However I think 6 GB RAM is not sufficient for this excellent gadget. LTE works fine (not compatible with 5G). Wireless charging facility might have been protective for the ultra slim USB C charging port. In summary, it is worth buying for tech savvy people. NOTE after a month: Two days after the return windows closed, the display started showing glitches. First the colour temperature of the left display became different than the right one. Then the right display started fluctuating and then flashing bright green light. An internet search about the glitch indicated that this is a common problem. Following the suggestion provided at Microsoft's site, I reset the unit to factory setting. Although it was hectic to reinstall all data and applications but the problem was solved completely. No more glitch or fluctuation in any of the two displays and no colour difference. This was a software problem.

Well when the first PC (personal computers) came out Commodore64 + ZX Spectrum + , I Got them . Sonce 1980's I have been a freak when it comes to Gadgets . I have to say the Microsoft Duo is one the best Mobile communication devices I have ever bought. The Build Quality is exceptional and functionality of using dual screen for multitasking is out of the world- Two screens function independently & smoothly , just unreal .
