Great! tutorial drawings.
I like that there is a good selection of step by step instruction, which are easy to follow. I think it is more than a beginners drawing instruction book, but it is easy to follow on some subjects; so a beginner could follow along easily with them. This book is packed with numerous interesting subjects to draw, great! tutorial drawings for everyone.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌞

Clean book for adults OR children, great drawing techniques and ideas for artists
This is a great book for kids or adults. I enjoy it as equally as my children did. I always worry with art books that they will include nudes or whatnot when I don't expect it (my kids are artistic, so my lower elementary kiddos LOVE books like this!) and this book was JUST FINE and perfectly clean. Kudos to the authors on that, not everything needs sex to sell. LOLTechnique is good, the pictures are very clear and bright and colorful and truly take it step by step. The pages are super high quality and thick, and the binding is great too, so I see this book lasting a long time even with heavy use. All in all super happy!!!

To Learn, Or Be Reminded Of, The Basics. You'll Appreciate This Book.
This book “The Art of Basic Drawing: Simple step-by-step techniques for drawing a variety of subjects in graphite pencil (Collector's Series)” is unique for having the contributions of multiple artists. Walter Foster is the one with whom I’m most familiar. I’ve seen his name on drawing and painting publications for as long as I can remember. The book focuses on beginners by offering an array of content to study. Some techniques shared include composition, perspective, and shading. Specific tips on drawing plants, landscapes, animals and people are included, offered in a range of complexity. If you, or someone you are buying for, have a desire to draw and are looking for inspiration and guidance, this is a good place to start. Recommended.

How Useful This Is Depends On What You Are Looking For
When it comes to drawing, everyone has something different they are looking for. Some are very perceptive and drawing instruction is needed at a minimal. They can look at a drawing or object and make an amazing rendition of it. Then there are those who really want step by step instruction so they can learn process. Let's take a look at this book more closely.WHAT IS THIS LIKE?This book is broken up into various chapters based on subject matter. The first section covers the basics- what to get, how to get started and how to do some basic warm ups and practices. After the initial section, the following sections have all of the subject matter broken up into types, such as Still Live, Animals, Landscapes, and People.HOW ARE THE DRAWINGSThis book has a lot of great drawings in it. They are impressive and interesting especially to beginners.IS THERE STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION?Here is where it gets difficult to review. I personally am an artist and I know how to draw, but back when I was really lost on how to get started, I wanted to do professional level drawings with a step by step training to get to that goal. I had books like this and sadly, they still left me with pencil in hand, frustrated. There are some basics, but there seems to be some lacking basics that get you from, "I have no idea what I am doing" to " I can DO this!"WHAT IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST ALREADY?If you are already an artist there may be some tips in this book that you can use to boost your drawings and help you grow your style on certain subject matter of your drawings. As for WOW instruction, I really don't think you are going to find it here.THE BOTTOM LINEAlthough this has nice drawings and some basic information, I really didn't think it was a WOW factor book that will take you from "What do I do?" to "I can DO THIS!" It is nice to look at and has some motivational material in it, but not as strong on instruction as I would have liked.MY RATINGFOUR STARS. This has enough in it to help some in drawing skills, but it really does not have as much basic HOW TO as I would like to see. Still it is a nice book to look through despite it not having as much step by step as I would like to see. It isn't bad, it just isn't WOW either.IF I HAVE OTHER WALTER FOSTER BOOKS WILL THIS BE A REPEAT?I have to say I have had other older Walter Foster books which are very similar to these, so it is possible that this might feel like a repeat even if it is slightly different.
