Great value for a practice amp head without speakers
Great low budget amp head for practice without using a speaker. Very small, light and portable. Love the sound of the preamp tube. The sound is different than my older 35 watt Orange solid state amp that also has a great tone. I use both on my Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster guitars. Considering buying a speaker for the new Orange amp head. Love the sound of Orange amps.

It's worth it! Very nice little amp
It's difficult to find much wrong with this amp- especially at this price point. I purchased this amp so I would not have to lug over my expensive Marshall and Fender amps to my friends house to practice. It performs this function very nicely and I combine it with a Marshall 1x12 cabinet (Marshall MX112). As others have noted, it is incredibly small and lightweight. Honestly, I sort of laughed at it when I first received it- until he heard it. The tone is very good an can produce a nice range of clean and distortion sounds. Even more impressive is the volume this little amp can obtain. It's remarkable! This would be a near-perfect practice amp if it had (even a simple) reverb, but of course that would increase the cost, complexity, and perhaps size of the amp. The Aux input is a nice added feature as this comes in handy for practicing songs. Overall, I highly recommend this little amp. It would not be my primary amp to gig with, but then again that's probably not really what this amp is intended to do. It could however function as an emergency backup amp, and is certainly worthy of a practice amp or when jamming with friends.

Awesome sound, great value
I bought this several months ago to try with my Yamaha YEV Electric Violin. I paired it with BUGERA 112TS 1x12 Cabinet. It quickly became my amp of choice for practice and live gigs in smaller venues. I really like this head. I play a variety of musical styles including, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Celtic, Folk, Bluegrass, Country, and Pop and this head seems to give me the tone I need to pull off any of these styles. I go from my electric violin, into my multi effects pedal, a pre-amp eq then into this amp head. It has that wonderful Orange tube tone. The tone is really alive with tons of unique character. I've had many many people, including audience members and other musicians complement the tone I get out of this thing. The onboard tone knob lets you mold your sound from warmer to brighter. I prefer it slightly on the warmer side. This thing cranks out tons of power. I can blow the doors off the smaller venues that play if I want to, although when I play solo I don't have a drummer, so I can't vouch for it's ability to overcome a loud drummer. I feel like it should be able to based on the volume I get out of this thing. You can use the gain knob to get some crunchy distorted sounds, although I don't do that in my music. I keep the gain low and get any distortion i need from my effects pedal. Still, I've played around with it and I can vouch for the fact that this thing can push some epic and huge crunchy tones when you dial the gain up. The clean tone is as I described above. Warm, alive, with tons of character. Overall, this thing is amazing. It blows the doors off of similarly priced heads. I have a fender champion 40w combo, and I'll take the micro terror and bugera cab over that thing any day. This thing is $150, I believe the Bugera cab is around $150. So for $300 you can get a pretty amazing sound. I don't really see any other products that can compete with this at this price point.

Inexpensive, loud, quality tones, tiny & light
Update: Both plugs (1/4" and 3.5mm) have already crapped out. 1/4" needs sideways pressure on it to make contact. the 3.5mm won't maintain contact. Now I have to go inside and either replaced or adjust if possible. I've only used it maybe 20 times, less on the 3.5mm. On the upside: I bought a MXR overdrive pedal and (when the Micro's plug is working) it screams. Hot hot hot and both head and pedal need to be at halfway settings or it's too much! Great little amp. Plenty of power, I have it hooked up to a 4x12 cabinet and play it with volume on 1. It's nice for quick practice sessions when I don't want to heat up and cool down my bigger all tube amp. It has a nice warm sound, you need an overdrive or distortion pedal for metal songs, but don't need anything for bluesy or good 'ol Rock-n-Roll. Also nice because it weigh's next to nothing, as opposed to my tube head which is like 45#. It's so small it looks like a toy, but it's definitely not playing around. I use my android phone with the app Backing Track Play Music plugged into the accessory input 3.5mm to jam along with. Would make an excellent backup amp for gigs, but to tell the truth I'd probably just use it as the main as well. Keep from lugging tons of gear in. You could literally carry 4 of these in a small school backpack. I would definitely recommend, especially at such a cheap price.

Big sound in a small box.
The guitar player in a band I recently shared a gig with was using this tiny little Orange head with a much larger twin cabinet. It sounded pretty good, just straight in, no effects, reverb etc. I bought one to try, figuring it could be set up like a low-fi rig. I added a Moskey reverb pedal with a 9V power adapter and it sounded really good clean and with gain, but It was making quite a bit of hum/ hiss if I turned it up. That ended up being caused by the power supply I was using on the reverb pedal. I moved the reverb to the end of my pedal chain and powered it with the pedal board power supply and the hum/ hiss was gone. Now hooked up the pedals, it sounded great, low noise, great clean sound, awesome overdrive and it takes the pedals really well. I first tried a larger 12" Celestion with it, but ended up using that with another amp, so I got the Orange 8" speaker/ cab. It sounds great, much fuller and open sounding than other small amp/ speaker set ups. So, I'm very happy with the head and speaker and the price was very affordable for a 20 watt and with a tube pre-amp.

I love this amp so much. It has the Orange sound and has enough power to keep up with other 100 watt guitar amps. I have used this amp at band practice plugged into my 4x12 Marshall amp and it's loud enough to hear over the drums. Mine is regularly plugged into a single speaker Fender extension cabinet for home use. The cleans that you get are super rich and full sounding and the gain sound awesome as well. You can really mix the volume and gain to find some great great sounds. There is only one EQ knob, which is no problem. I kind of keep it around 2 o'clock. The downside of this amp is there is no effects loop. I totally understand that for the price you don't get a boat load of features, and what you do get is phenomenal. Also, the headphones sound kind of sucks. I used it a couple of times and thought it sounded buzzy. Whatever, still 5 stars.
