Capitol Records to release Classic Diamonds With The London Symphony Orchestra, a new album from iconic, award-winning songwriter/musician Neil Diamond. Features new vocals paired with the Orchestra's interpretations of his most celebrated hits. Recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, co-arranged by GRAMMYr-winners Walter Afanasieff (producer) & William Ross (conductor). The melodic wordsmith's music has touched generations in deeply personal ways. Songs for all.The Classic Diamonds. Review: New takes on best loved songs - Mr. Diamond still sounds wonderful--and this collection of some of his favorite songs shows nothing has slowed him down. My favorite track: "America." I choked up a little at the recitation of the Emma Lazarus poem. I think it's the best rendition of this song. Three songs which are beautiful, but which I've never loved for deeply personal reasons: "September Morn," "You Don't Bring Me Flowers," and "Heartlight." The interpretations are beautiful, but I've just never made a positive connection with these songs. Others love them--rightly so--and will not be disappointed. Most challenging is the take on "Sweet Caroline". Slowing it down and using a bolero motif was interesting, but I found it oddly militaristic, rather than the great party song for the ages. (Plus, the backstory to Ravel's "Bolero" ends in a knife fight, which is probably never the best association.) All this said, it's a magnificent collection. Mr. Diamond's voice sounds clear, strong, and energetic, and the orchestra is superb. Review: Like his music - Good music

Amazing, simply amazing
There's a show every Sunday on PBS called the crooners, basically a bunch of songs being performed by various artists. I never miss it, and it's led me to some amazing productions. So I heard someone on this singing "I'm a Believer ", yes, same song sung by the monkees, Neil Diamond, etc. This was Neil Diamond, although I barely recognized him. Singing with the London symphony Orchestra. Which gave this pop song a gravitas I had never heard before. So I ordered the C.D ( yes There's a C.D). A collection of Diamond songs, backed up by the London symphony Orchestra. All of his classics are there, presented in a way you never heard them before. Best 12 bucks I ever spent. You can't go wrong buying this odd but beautiful mixture. Like chocolate milk and cinnamon rolls. A must have

Classic
The quintessential, classic Neil Diamond accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra - just a fantastic compilation. I adore this man's music.

Dramatic, timeless and a must have.
The London Symphony Orchestra has been popular with contemporary artists over the years. Some artists replace the instrumentals but don't really change the arrangements of their music. Neil Diamond has completely reworked his selections represented on this album. The absolute best is America from The Jazz Singer. This version actually gave me chills - it is THAT good. Others were really nice, but demonstrated such a change that they're almost like a different song. The quality of the recording is outstanding, the orchestra use is traditional in its representation and is not made to sound "modern". At no time does anything sound like elevator music. This album is dramatic, reinvigorates these selections and is a must have for any Diamnond fan.

A different take....
With sumptuous orchestrations this album of Neil Diamond songs is for the most part a leisurely stroll through some of his hits. Diamond sings with feeling to be sure, but not particularly strong voice. And for the most part this tunes are slowed down a notch or two, to make room of the orchestra and provide a sense of solemnness/importance to the exercise. That said, it's a pleasant enough listening experience and a nice ad to a Neil Diamond collection. And while it'll get play in my house, it won't replace original or concert versions of the same material.

Great pair of CD and the Neil Diamond tribute show
This CD was the greatest and I bought it right before a bunch of us went to the Neil Diamond tribute in San Francisco. It matched completely in the show is absolutely amazing. The two together really made it all special.

Comment Neil Diamond a pu laisser passer cela ? Mystère …Thierry
