A really good knife.
I have about 6 incarnations of this same model branded under different names to include a few tanto blades. Why do I have so many? Because I like them. I beat the snot out of 'em, using them the way you probably shouldn't use a knife. I would cut stuff on concrete, use as screwdrivers, use the thing as a mallot, a punch, etc. Sure I make them dull, but that's why I bought an Accu-Sharp sharpener. A quick sharpening and it's ready to go again. The edge doesn't last as long as a knife costing 5 times more, but that's a knife costing 5 times more. You can buy 5 of these along with a sharpener and you're set. I also threw a little bit of oil in the spring mechanisms. They open as fast as the expensive spring assisted blades (like my lightning fast S&W M&P), have decent heft (more than my S.O.G.), same size as my Benchmade, and as black as my Kershaw Tactical. You're not afraid to abuse it like your more expensive knives. That's why I love these things. Another thing I like about these knives is the slick body. Not as grippy as the sand-paper like grips on a S&W or Kershaw, but that's what makes it way easier to slip in and out of your pocket. I haven't broken or bent one yet, if I do I'll be sad, until I simply pick up it's replacement because they're cheap. If you have a bunch of expensive knives and want to spare them constant abuse, get a few of these. They're rock-steady, tough, and look great.

Didn't have the features I wanted
So, let me first say that it's probably a decent value for the money. A reasonably-made knife for under $8 with a lifetime warranty is "nothing to sneeze at."However, I own several spring-assisted knives: a couple of Kershaw Ken Onion's, and a couple of Trademark Black Firm's (also sold on Amazon.)The only way I find effective to open these knives is with the index stud (a bump on the back of the blade that protrudes from the opposite side from which the blade opens). THIS KNIFE DOES NOT HAVE ONE. Thus, the only way to open it is with the thumb stud, which is not that easy since, to be safe, the spring gives some resistance before allowing the knife to snap open. The other thing, as another reviewer pointed-out, is that the blade does not open easily, and the blade essentially has to be guided all the way into the open position. Again, it's an economical knife, and this may be a result of the knife being new, not being broken-in, and not being additionally lubricated. However, there was no such [initial] trouble with either of the Kershaws or the Trademark Black Firm's.

Pretty good for the cost
Comfortable in hand, decent looking and the button that unlocks the blade is a great feature keeping your fingers away from the very sharp blade. The pocket spring is solid as it is the entire knife, but I would have liked it more if the clip design allowed the knife to completely hide inside the pocket.Another thing I have to point out is that I can't tell the spring assist on this knife. I pretty much have to continuously push the blade stud and lead the blade all the way to the open position where it seems to lock safely.Overall I give it 4 starts for the quality at this price ($7.36 and free shipping) but again:-a nice looking solid knife but no blade spring assist.

NOT SPRING ASSISTED
I don't know if I received the wrong item or not. The patented push button is fine, and the closure is great for one handed closing. This knife is not spring assisted. You push the side button the blade comes out half way you have to force it the rest of the way. This one will not replace the blade I have that is spring assisted. I'll keep the knife around, but was very disappointed I might send back.

Good knife
I like this knife when I first started using it the blade would sometimes lock in the open position but after a little while it stopped maybe it just needed a little break-in period overall its a good knife and I recommend it

Excellent Knife!!
I purchased this with low expectations, as I was going to donate it to the charity auction. Upon arrival I changed my mind. This knife is an excellent Daily carry. Holds edge well, sharpens on knife-steel. This knive has excellent heft as well. Very sturdy knife. I kept this kife and went by walmart and bought a couple of inexpensive, decent knives to donate. Knife carries the Maxxam Logo.
