CSJ Sound Solar Charger with Connectors and LED USB Light for Cell Phones – Silver

I received this as a present a couple months ago. Fully charged, this takes care of my iPad AND phone with some juice to spare! It charges easily and I have had no issues with it. More than once, it has been a lifesaver for me and my players as a coach on away games. The bonus light that came with it came apart at the USB plug-in after a couple uses but I contact customer service and a new one was sent out to me within a few hours! Crazy good customer service. I would definitely buy this again! Great product and very useful. I will take it backpacking with me this summer.

I have to rate this product low. It works but it seems that the conditions need to be perfect. Also I found that it gets kinda hot to the touch after sitting in the sun. It will charge a device but it has to sit in the sun while your devices have to be in the shade. It does work tho

This product is a great disappointment, it doesnt charge phones or work in the sun as advertised. Its a fraud! Even the so called free LED laptop light included doesnt work. It was a waste of my hard earned money!!! The company should be stopped from further defrauding unsuspecting Amazon customers.

Item has been left out in direct sunlight for 3 days, does not charge more than two lights. Even then, the powerbank doesn't hold a charge, the two lights saying i have a roughly "half" charged power bank die before it can charge my galaxy s4 by 3% after 10minutes. Pathetic.

The solar charger didn't work for me. I doesn't seem to work.

When I first received this I noticed several things I love about it- 1st (I knew before it arrived that it was solar powered as well as chargable)- very light weight compared to my other external batteries (I have many as my phone seems to stay dead plus my children use them often on trips)- it comes with a soft pouch to avoid scratching the solar panel- it comes with a cord that has multiple ends to charge most any device.Now for the con (I only have 1 but it's a fairly big one)- I can only get it to charge 50-75% according to the led lights by plug in charge or solar power.This is still great for times you are outdoors and not near an outlet (which I am often) but I wish it would charge all the way up. NOTE if it starts charging all the way or I figure out something different I will update this review.*** If you are like me then you research reviews on amazon before purchasing most anything which is exactly why strive to leave quality feedback and informative reviews. The idea of a solar powered USB power bank is intriguing. Being able to generate energy using nothing but the sun's rays sounds like a great idea. This device does NOT deliver on that promise. The solar charger is simply a novelty (or marketing scam) with no practical real-world use, and as a USB power bank, this device is mediocre.In order to be useful as a solar charger, this device should be able to replenish its charge in a day (or two at the most). The solar panel on this device is simply much too small to be able to do that. It is made of 10 small solar cells in series that are each about 2.5” x 0.25” in size. This means a maximum voltage of 5V (assuming 0.5V max per cell) which is sufficient, but each cell will only be able to source about 140mA (around 222mA per square inch). So, the panel is probably a 0.7W panel at maximum. At 140mA, it would take 57 hours of FULL sunlight to charge the included 8000mAh battery cell. That is over 7 days assuming 8 hours of full sunlight each day. In actual use, I would double or triple that number to account for the partial sun that will usually occur, and the current that gets wasted through the charge indicator LEDs.The other problem with using this device for its solar capabilities, is that it is not waterproof. There are no seals to keep water out of this device, meaning you can't leave it outdoors. Placing it indoors will further reduce the effectiveness of any solar energy that makes its way to the solar panel.As a USB power bank this devices works ok, but isn't anything special. It feels cheaper and flimsier than any other power bank I have ever used. The power switch leaves a lot to be desired.The included lithium ion cell is no where near its 8000mAh rating. I measured a capacity of 4694mAh or 17.359Wh using a 1A discharge test on my custom discharge tester. This is only 59% of its rated 8000mAh capacity. See the attached discharge curve graph. The cell did have an excellent internal resistance of only 85 milliohms.The bonus USB LED light is reasonably bright, but isn't anything special. I have bought the identical USB LED lights elsewhere for a buck or less.All-in-all, I am hard pressed to know what to do with this device. I will probably part it out for my various electronics projects. The solar panel might be useful for various solar experiments. The lithium ion cell will come in handy to power other devices, or maybe I will build a new enclosure for it and the power bank PCB. As it comes, however, I can not really recommend this product.Please note that even though I received this product at a discount or free, I was not compensated for this review, and all of the above feedback is my own honest assessment of the product.
