I'll be honest, I bought this on a whim. It's basically toy money in the camera world, and I'm traveling light soon. For a modest but fancy dinner price, you get a very useable lens cap that doubles as a hyperfocal 18mm lens. There are no moving parts, after it locks into the camera body it doesn't move. It's unassuming, but only slightly so. It fits on my X-T4 behind the grip end, and on an X-T30 just ahead of the grip. It is nearly flush with the X-T1s grip. There are some caveats for having a small, no moving parts, constant aperture lens: On the X-T4 the IBIS doesn't like it at all. It jerks around a lot. It's mostly fine and usable after you become aware of it's kinda glitchy behavior. If you turn of IBIS it behaves nicely. This is probably true on the X-H1 or X-S10 too. And this is the biggest problem I have with the lens. On a body without IBIS, say my X-T30. It behaves remarkably well. It has a roughly 1 meter or 3 foot close focusing, things are starting to get into focus at that range. And when I say starting, it takes a bit of distance to really get things in focus. I haven't done any exhaustive testing, but 6 meters or 20 feet seems to be the starting area for a sweet spot that extends out for a while. But infinity isn't in sharp focus either. The focus is soft regardless of how steady your hands are. And will never perform well in low light. But that's not the point of this kind of lens. Outdoors in the daylight on the street it behaves very well. Set the camera to aperture priority, and it works great by itself. But I find it blurs a lot at lower shutter speeds, so it doesn't hurt to pay attention to shutter and ISO if you want a truly sharper image. That's it. It's a simple lens with no controls. It takes ok photo's, and at this price it's hard to beat. It's intriguing to me though, and I wouldn't mind a slightly higher quality version of this lens. Something sharper at closer ranges or something sharper at the infinity end. This works great as an across the street snapshot when walking around lens. But so does most of the fuji F2's or F1.4's. Even the 16mm F2.8 is small enough to fit in a pocket and provides roughly the same performance. If you set the camera to manual focus mode and prefocus for a walk around lens... I don't know. Your mileage may vary. TL;DR It's a very good lens cap that also takes better than ok photos.

For $60? Come on, this thing is awesome. Solid metal construction, zero complaints there. Focus ring throw is 1/4 turn of the whole lens, so it's easy to whip focus around if you need to, but realistically you'll be at the "∞" setting all the time. Being fixed at F6.3 means that, at the infinity setting, anything from about 2 ft away to infinity will be in focus. So you won't likely touch the focus ring much / ever. Essentially, this lens is a point-and-shoot dream. Never have to touch focus, not wasting battery on AF motors, no choices to make. Just turn on the camera and fire the shutter! Extremely easy. 18mm is a nice choice, too. Plenty of room to capture your scene. Before IQ, I can't stress enough how _small_ this lens is. It's a brilliant fit on my X-Pro3, with the front edge of the lens just a couple millimeters further out from the built-in grip! I have several XF lenses and nothing comes close to making the X-Pro3 feel like a true rangefinder than this one. It's actually even smaller (thinner) than my X100V. Neat! Carry this thing anywhere. Okay, image quality. This is not a clinical, sharp, corporate-headshots / product-images type lens. It's $60. Go get your $2k G-master for that. What this lens is, is a very filmic piece of glass. Does it have some vignetting on the edges? Yep. Is it slow? Yep — F6.3, especially indoors, means high ISO. Does is somehow blend with the X-Trans IV's high-ISO grain (and/or JPG grain settings) to give you brilliant film-y images with BEAUTIFUL film grain? Absolutely. No idea how it does this, but it just does. The photos I shoot through this lens (particularly with Classic Neg or Acros) look more filmic than pretty much any other lens I shoot. Would I try this lens on the X-Trans V 40MP sensors? Probably not. Would I try it on the older sensors? Absolutely. What this lens doesn't have in resolution resolving power it totally makes up for in character and filmy style. That pairs great with the 26MP X-Trans VI and I can only imagine even more-so on the older sensors. For $60 and Amazon's return policy... give this thing a try. It's great. It'll take you to a simplistic place with your photography that's just "frame and shoot".

If you're using an Olympus camera, be sure to check your image stabilization settings. If its set for a long focal length it will surely soften the image. It did mine. I was all set to send it back until I realized what a mess image stabilization was making. With that out of the way, I'd call this a decent lens given its compact size and price. Vignetting is bad and contrast is low. Vignetting is easily fixed in post processing but contrast less so. Otherwise, it performs fine with acceptable center sharpness, and little distortion and chromatic aberration. And focus is something to watch. The focus ring moves fairly easily so be careful with it. Outside of 15 feet infinity is fine, but less than that focus is surprisingly important. I wasn't expecting that for an f6.3 lens. And lastly lens cap. Buy yourself an aftermarket lens cap for the GR range of cameras. It fits perfectly and adds next to nothing to the size of the lens

A fun idea, but not as dynamic or sharp as other 7A lenses (which I love). Save your money for the 12mm if you want to go wide. Or buy the 23mm. Cheap, so don’t feel bad about my purchase.

La costruzione è accurata e la baionetta metallica si innesta bene. Sfortunatamente la mia fotocamera (Canon EOS M200) non lo riconosce e non scatta. Lo vede esattamente come un coperchio. Ho dovuto renderlo.

Good For this price

Bonjour à tous, Comme beaucoup le disent, si vous cherchez un objectif qui donnent des résultats ultras nets et détaillés, cet objectif n'est pas pour vous. Malgré tout, il est assez net, mais manque un peu de contraste. Je trouve qu'il est plus net en vue rapprochée que sur l'infini. Mais le gros avantage, (par rapport aux Olympus 9 et 15 mm) c'est qu'il y a une vraie bague de mise au point ultra fluide très pratique pour faire le point. Une précision : quand on règle sur l'infini, ne pas aller jusqu'au bout, mais rester juste 1 millimètre environ avant, pour une netteté optimale. Il est très bien construit, tout en métal. Pas de couvercle capuchon de protection. Il est très sensible au flare, au reflet des lumières fortes. Pour moi ça peut être une qualité parce qu'il permet de créer des atmosphères un peu irréelles que j'aime beaucoup. (voir la première photo) J'aime les photos super nettes et détaillées, mais là on est plus dans le créatif, dans une recherche d'ambiances particulières, cet objectif s'y prête bien. (seule la dernière photo est optimisée) J'aimerais bien le même en 28 mm parce qu'en 4/3, le 18 équivaut à 36 mm... Et surtout il est tellement léger et discret, c'est vraiment un plaisir de l'utiliser. Et pour le prix, franchement...
