Powerful and Versatile projector
This projector is exactly what I was looking for. I tried the sub $200 projectors but they were not bright enough. I tried the EF-100 and the brightness was amazing but the picture quality was not great once the screen got above 70". This EF-12 is the best of both worlds and the charry on top is that the sounds quality is quite good for the form factor. I planned to use this projector as my primary home theater display and also use it for family movie nights out in the back yard. It has been to cold and snowy outside to do the latter but the use of the projector as my home theater display has been nothing short of amazing! Pros: 1. Brightness is high enough to cut the most well lit rooms 2. 1080P quality is great for the price point 3. The speakers get quite loud with great clarity 4. the cooling fan is very quiet. 5. The auto focus is fantastic 6. the remote is bluetooth and is very responsive 7. the standby to full on is very fast Cons: 1. The throw distance is shorter than i expected for a 100" display (This is affects where you place it in the room) 2. The ceiling mount is sold separately (I have seen reviews where they got it in the box but this was not the case for me) 3. Bluetooth does not work to connect to external speaker. (Like i said the sound is good but to center the sound it would be nice to be able to connect a bluetooth soundbar or similar) 4. In very bright environments the picture does get a bit washed out. Conclusion: This was a great purchase however i would have opted for the EF11 (Same display specs without the yamaha speaker) if it were not for the sale that made the EF12 the same price as the EF11. Bottom line is the picture is fantastic and the sound for the EF12 is very good.

Amazing when it's on sale. Perfect for travel, and it's bright for dim lit room
When it's on sale for $500 this is the best projector you can get for that price. For $1k it's okaish as now it's competing with others. It's small and looks premium. It's small enough you can take it on a road trip with you just to project in your hotel. Android OS is a big sluggish but you can fix that with a firetv stick. The most important part it's bright and sharp.

Great quality, needs a fix for Netflix
The Epson EpiqVision Mini EF12 delivers sharp 1080p visuals with vibrant colors, and the built-in Yamaha sound system is excellent for its size. It’s super portable and easy to use thanks to the built-in Android TV. However, it doesn’t support Netflix natively, which is a big downside for such an otherwise great streaming device. I hope Epson resolves this with a future update. Aside from that, it’s a fantastic compact projector for movies and shows.

Nice Size Great Image
This is a nice projector, although a little more on the spendy side. My 3 and a half year old DBPower started to get a burn area in the image and it was becoming hard to watch (especially light scenes like snow). Went the big blue store and saw several projectors and TVs. My theater screen is a 100" electric motorized screen mounted over a closet. The room is not good for a TV but is great for projectors because I can darken it and it is a good shape for a home theater. I was able to re-use my ceiling mount but needed to make a trip to the hardware store with my new EF11 to get three smaller screws. Also, because the EF11 uses an external power adapter, I had to pony up for a $30 25" power cable to run from the outlet to the AC adapter. I'll post more pictures later but I did a good job with the installation. One thing that I didn't like is that since this is a digital zoom, is that if you mount the projector too far way from the screen and you resize the image, there is still a light area that extends beyond the image and that was distracting so I had to move my mount closer to the screen and re-install it. Now it is perfect. Need to patch some holes in my ceiling. Since I went from a bulb type projector to this laser projector, I was blown away by the image. Even though this is less lumens than my old projector, the image is by far more vibrant. The colors really pop. There is a lot of control that the user has over the image and the operator just needs to tweak them to their liking or use the presets. Looking foward to my movie nights again.

The remote that came with it is not working
I bought the renewed one and I’m kind of glad I did. It was packaged very nicely. The projector looked brand new. Everything looked brand new. Everything was clean. I’m thinking about purchasing another one for the bedroom. Because I don’t like the one I have in there. The projector is really quite much quieter than my other one. It took a minute to shrink the picture down to my screen…. It covered the entire wall. It took a second to figure out how to shrink it. The picture is very clear. It’s just as clear as my old projector. I love the fact that I’m not gonna have to change the bulbs out anymore. Definitely happy with my purchase as of right now. If anything changes, I can promise you I’ll definitely be changing my review. As of right now, I’m really happy with the purchase though. Projector has worked pretty good so far the problem that I’ve had is pairing up my fire stick to the projector you can’t do that apparently so the remote that comes with the projector is a Bluetooth remote and it does actually control the fire stick about 80% of the way anyway Update: we are loving this projector it’s so quiet and great picture still. I want another projector for our bedroom NEW UPDATE: the remote stopped working just out of nowhere and without the remote you really can’t make the projector function. Not sure exactly what to do now. So turns out I have to buy a new remote or send the entire unit back. It’s $36 for the remote. I’m really really not happy about this considering I just purchased this.

It’s getting close to a year now and it still works perfectly. Small enough to take when traveling, I always have a big screen TV to watch on my bedroom ceiling. I even use it in hotels with ceiling texture and it’s still 10 times better than your typical hotel TV And no neck kinks! It also works great for movie nights in the living room at around 200 inches! At 1080P HD the picture is far less pixily than others that I had tried and it’s plenty good enough for me and for the price!

I'm writing this review after using the Epson EF12 projector for about 3 months. Pros: 1. Good picture quality with natural colors. 2. Sharp lens. The image stays in focus from corner to corner. 3. Laser light source with 20000 hours of long life. It should easily last over 10 years with regular use. 4. Sufficient brightness to watch the movies even in rooms with some ambient light. However, the dark room environment is where it really shines 5. Good sound quality. We can manage without a sound bar if we are not looking for a wide surround sound stage with lot of bass. 6. Low fan noise 7. Low power consumption 8. Minimalistic retro look and compact size 9. Mostly accurate auto focus and auto keystone adjustments with ability to fine tune the settings with remote provides flexibility with projector placement 10. Does not have any ports or vents on the back. It provides ability to project on ceiling. It's a different experience to watch movies on ceiling. 11. Built in Android 11 operating system. You don't need any other external device if you want to watch Amazon Prime Video and most of the other streaming apps. 12. In case you want to use external streaming device, the built is USB port is able to provide enough power to Amazon Fire TV Stick. 13. Made by a well known company - Epson - and the sound system designed by Yamaha. We can expect the projector to last long. 14. Regular firmware updates. Received 2 updates in 3 months so far. Cons: 1. Not directly mountable on tripod. I thought, we could use the screw mount at the base of the projector for fixing standard tripod quick release plate - not possible. The tripod quick release plate standard screw is bigger than the projector screw mounting. We've to buy a separate mounting plate ELPMB65 which was out of stock everywhere in Canada for long. I was finally able to buy the mounting plate - when it became available briefly - after checking it's availability on epson site daily for more than a month. Meanwhile, My temporary solution was - I removed the standard screw from my tripod quick release plate; replaced it with M4 12mm screw with a washer and fitted the quick release plate with this screw at the base of the projector with some cardboard padding. The projector could be mounted on tripod with this arrangement. However, I was not very comfortable with this arrangement as the screw mounting at the base of the projector is off it's center of gravity and it's just a small screw holding the projector. 2. The projector LCDs are not able to completely block light outside the configured image area. We can see a halo like area - with dark grey light glow - around the configured image area. It provides lesser than ideal movie watching experience for dark scenes. 3. Projector brightness is not enough for watching it with a fair amount of ambient light. I would have also appreciated a better contrast ratio. 4. As is well known, the projector's native Android operating system doesn't support Netflix app as of now. We need to use an external device like Amazon Fire TV Stick for it. 5. No lens cap. My solution - I came across a YouTube video with title "Epson EpiqVision Mini EF12 lens cover". He has shared links to blender and STL files of the lens cap design. I've got the lens cap 3D printed. Works great. Issues fixed in the latest firmware update V108 1. The auto keystone adjustment feature now works properly most of the times. 2. We now have the ability to adjust the zoom and image shift digitally. Zoom can be adjusted from 50% to 100% in increments of 5%. Suggestions to Epson. Hope someone from their team reads the review. 1. Provide the mounting plate along with the projector. As per initial unboxing videos, Epson used to provide the mounting plate along with the projector. Not sure why they stopped doing that. It's priced 13 CAD - only 1% of the projector's price. I'm sure it shouldn't be that hard for Epson to absorb that cost for the completeness of the product offering. It's a non-standard mounting plate and is out of stock everywhere most of the times. At least, make it available for buying. For a portable projector, ability to readily mount it on a tripod is an important feature. 2. Provide a lens cap. 3. Sort out the licensing issue with Netflix so that it's natively supported. Most of the reviewers are knocking off stars from the reviews mainly for this reason. 4. Provide auto object avoidance feature so that the projector can adjust the image size as per the available clear projection area. 5. Improve the contrast ratio.

Best customer service ever. 7 months in my projector stopped working. Called Epson, 5 minutes later they told me to send a pic of the serial number. Once they got it, they sent me a replacement THE NEXT DAY! The projector itself is amazing, for the price there is nothing close. The built in speaker is so good I don’t bother using my main speakers. No bass obviously but for daily viewing its fine. But the best thing is the INSANELY HUGE & CLEAR 150” picture. Honestly some of the colours are BETTER than my Sony OLED (blue is the best I have ever seen, obviously not the blacks). I have a 55” Sony OLED in the same room, it was our main screen before and we NEVER use it now (I only use it for my PS5). The fact SIX of my OLEDs can fit in the 150” screen is ridiculous. I have seriously thought of getting another one as back up since they are such a great value.
