desertcart.com: The Dark Corners of the Night (Audible Audio Edition): Meg Gardiner, Hillary Huber, Blackstone Publishing: Audible Books & Originals Review: What a book!!! - I have always loved the book by Meg Gardiner. she has written some of the best in this genre. The UNSUB is simply outstanding and this new goes way beyond that. Meg Gardiner has expertly crafted a story that literally took my breath away. I liken the author to a fine, seasoned chef. We get the appetizer in Sean, Sadie and Michelle. We get the desserts from Rainey, Keyes and Emmerich. And then we get the main course with Caitlin. Meg Gardiner has created a superb cast of characters and she places them into situations that are mind numbing. Caitlin is an astute FBI agent/profiler with issues of her own. However, she puts them aside to apprehend the monsters who prey on others. She has compassion, a strong moral compass, intelligence and blends all of those to ensure justice for the victims. The Midnight Man is, by far, one of the scariest UNSUBS that I have ever come across. The story has many twists and turns and you are on the edge of your seat reading some of the passages. And then a most pleasant surprise in Dr. Jo Beckett!!! I have really missed her. If you have not read the Jo Beckett books, you should really considering doing so since they are also fantastic. As the book progresses, you are mesmerized by its intensity, the beauty and power of the words, the intracacies of the procedures and rationals. Then the very last part of the book you are at a loss for words by the last act of the Midnight Man and by the appearance of the Ghost. This is one book I will read again as I wait for Meg Gardiner to write the next one. Believe me, there will be a next one! Thank you Meg Gardiner for this phenomenal book and the time spent enjoying it! Review: Always an UNSUB series lover - I am a huge fan of Gardiner's UNSUB series and gave the first two novels five stars. This one isn't as good as the first two, but still gives fans a thrilling serial killer chase from the beloved Caitlin Hendrix character we all know. The Midnight Man is terrifying y'all. I loved how Criminals Minds this novel felt and I was engaged with all of the parts about the killer. The place where I felt like this novel dropped down to a four star is when Caitlin's innerworkings and thoughts were put on the page. I feel like I know Caitlin by now in this series and the dynamic thinking she normally has didn't hit this time. This is still such an awesome read and lovers of thrillers and serial killers will love this book!

Thanks Stephen King for the recommendation
Thanks to edelweiss.com, Blackstone Publishing and author Meg Gardiner for the advance ARC copy for my honest review and I purchased it from amazon.com. Also thanks to author Stephen King, who retweeted on twitter a post from the author Meg Gardiner, with his recommendation for her UNSUB series and it's how I started reading the author. 'The Dark Corners of the Night', my first read from the author, liked that it sucks you in, plants you in the pages your tagging along with the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit or BAU for short, you don't want it to end, with two intertwining storylines that could be ripped out of today's headlines, has the fast pace that I love and readers are in for a hellacious read. What made the story even better, is that I liked every character in this one, feel that Meg Gardiner makes them good or bad life like, realistic, believable and it's one of the WFS (To know what this means, you'll have to read the book) that makes it so friggin' good. Being a LivePD fan, the Caitlin Hendrix character made me think of Officer Alyssa Wright of the Jeffersonville Police Dept. she's the badass cop that took down two people by herself and handcuffed one of them. I feel like the readers actually meant to be the Caitlin Hendrix character, a damaged but one badass FBI agent, whose part of BAU, whose a mess, yet she has a tender side to her and the perfect role for Anna Kendrick. Should the UNSUB series become movies. The author made a believe, realistic police procedural serial killer read, even has a tough little girl named Hannah take over the story at times, Rainy, Keyes, Emmerich, Sean, Sadie and Michelle and the LA Police detectives all add to the storyline. Really the two flaws with this one are the ending with the UNSUB and Caitlin self harming herself by cutting. Definitely will be catching up with the first two books in this series, also will checkout the author's other series and eagerly waiting the next UNSUB books.

Finally!
I finished Stephen King's total works last year, and have been searching ever since for an author who's stories & (more importantly) who's characters even remotely come close to pulling me in, and making me invest in them, the way that King's always do. After googling, "Authors to read if you love Stephen King", I've tried probably 12 different authors, and each one of them left me totally disappointed, wanting & frustrated. Finally, I found an author who writes w/ such detail - w/ real depth & in multiple different layers - somehow managing to juggle and control a vastness of unique emotion, personality, and individual history all weaved together in a perfect harmony. This awesome, nail-biting, addicting world (w/ such amazing characters) has totally sucked me in: "UNSUB", w/ FBI Behavioral Analyst Special Agent Caitlin Hendrix. I can't believe I finally found an author who's actually lived up to my expectations. Well done, Meg Gardiner. I'm just so sad there's only 3 "UNSUB" books, and even sadder that I just finished them all. Time to dive into Jo Beckett now, I guess. (Waiting impatiently for the 4th "UNSUB" book...)

When Stephen King tells you not to miss it then you have to pick it up. Book 3 in the UNSUB series and another 5 star read for me. And now it is over? This series is incredible and I am sad it is over. Crime fiction readers, if you haven't read this then you need to change that now. All 3 books are dark and addictive and had me wanting to sleep with the lights on!! In The Dark Corners of the Night, we follow Caitlin and the team to Los Angeles, where the Midnight Man is terrorizing the city. This killer is breaking into family home late at night and killing the parents while their children are left scared and alone. He is a sadistic and clever killer, and always one step ahead of the authorities. I couldn't stop reading and I was hearing every little noise my house was making! It was seriously tense! I look forward to checking out some more books by this author, she has really impressed me with these 3 books and I wish that I had discovered her sooner.

Meg Gardiner has written another great novel in the UNSUB series. More great characters with a tight, racy plot, I'm looking forward to book 4 already.

I have read all books in the series. The author keeps the reader's attention and tension of the story until the end. Excellent story can't wait for the next book.
