Do not use as soundbar extension
Purchased this as its meant to work with Philips soundbar to provide surround sound. It drops connection daily and you have to set it up again, from scratch. Surround sound was distorted and very poor. As a stand alone speaker, works great. However its very expensive for that sole use, much better and cheaper speakers are available. As a surround sound Philips system, forget it, it just does not work and is not fit for purpose.

It updates and works in surround sound mode with the Philips Sound Bar
We bought a second one Philips best kept secret, Play fi had matured and works well with Philips Speakers So we bought the Philips sound bar and by using eARC were able to get terrific Dolby Atmos in a reasonably sized room. (other review written) but the Play-Fi was the reason I really wanted to use the sound bar, we bought the ONkyo version of this dual speaker, I had owned Onkyo many years ago and really loved their products. Days of pulling my hair out I concluded Philips and Onkyo were not compatible. And the price of this Philips unit went through the roof before christmas, we therefore we swerved purchasing this unt combined with its miserable reviews. Well the price dropped back down and we bought the speaker yesterday and it arrived today, linked it to our wifi service, it required an upload of firmware that went through on the second attempt, connected the unit to spotify worked first time and then attempted SURROUND SOUND the app required a second update and the unit then required calibrating 2 minutes later surround sound is working. It was easy and we do not have wires running around and the technology suites our life style. We are not HI FI buffs. Play Fi offers so much but I just dont think there is any reason the companies really care for mix and matching. Philps win Onkyo looses 4 days in the link continues to work between the sound bar and the speaker Now we have identified the problem, if the soundbar goes to standby and then wakes surround is lost, if the sound bar is switched off then on this speaker reconnects and everything works Two weeks in a new problem, the surround sound system requires to upgrade firmware, BUT THE IS A HUGE PROBLEM the sound bar upgrades but this speaker does not (I will not go into detail how we figured this out) Solution is remove surround sound and then upgrade speakers firmware independently then recombine. We have also added a smart plug to switch the sound bar on and off again to reengage the surround speaker. Philips will never compete with higher end products with this confusion

Philips W6505/10 Wireless Home Speaker
OK .. For the last 48hrs, I have literally torn my network apart to get 2 of these and a Philips 8805 Atmos Sound bar along with New Philips 9006 58" Screen with 4 sided Ambilight working and sync'd. Applied all the updates to all devices, TV unable to locate the Wireless sound bar's, which work perfectly through DTS Play-Fi. Re-installed the units and the TV Twice, set the Router to only broadcast a 5Mhz single to ensure they were all on the same network, reloaded the network and devices several times.. nothing. (Day 1 at least 5 hrs) Powered everything down late last night and tried again this morning. The TV then found the Wireless speakers which I then configured but every time I turned them on, the TV LIED! reporting a power fault - Spoke to Philips who thought both units must be faulty, perhaps one I said but not both? … As a last resort whilst the TV had been working perfectly through a wireless connection, hard wired it to the router and Bingo! .. the speakers Ambilights sprang to life. I don't understand because the router sit's next to the TV and the speakers are only 2 metre's away on each side with clear line of site. Couple of things to note, the DTS Play-Fi speakers must be 1st set to be active through one menu on the TV prior to activating the Ambilight extension menu for the Ambilight to follow the colours of the TV on the back of the speakers. In addition I was planning to add additional Ambilights through the Ambilight + Hue option .. BUT it's one or the other the TV does support both at the same time .. so will need to use these in another room. Posting this in the hope it helps someone else and saves them having to spend 2 days to get this mare working!! Update and Correction: Whilst Philips stated the DTS Sound had to be active/switched on for the Ambilights on the extended speakers to work, it does not .. You cannot also just switch on DTS for the two additional speakers whilst using the soundbar through e-arc .. You have to use all 3 through DTS which is a shame as the sound quality isn't as good through the soundbar when active.

Only works on certain TV’s
I have a Philips TV with built in amber lights The description doesn’t mention it only works on certain Philips TV’s when I brought this speaker, so much wasted time to get it to work. I sent an email to the manufacturers of my problems they replied the speaker is only compatible with certain amber light TV’s. Had to return and took forever to get a refund. Disappointed and back to the drawing board.

Headache
It sounds good using Bluetooth with your phone. However the app is terrible and it’s a headache trying to connect it to your Phillips TV. If you’re buying it just to extend the ambient light from your TV, it ain’t worth it. Also the sound got muffled when I connected it to the TV but was fine when using Bluetooth.

Ok
Expensive for what it is. Main selling point is it works with Philips tvs to create a surround set up….supposedly. Unfortunately it doesn’t work so well. Connects ok eventually but doesn’t hold the connection. Dips in and out of connectivity like nobodies business

Funktioniert einwandfrei!
4. Basslastigkeit!
