It takes some practice to get any of these to work well, but this one is pretty good. Getting good at using these things can take a little while, so you should probably keep that in mind with the reviews. You have to make sure to line up exactly with the scoring on the tablet, or it might not cut straight through and/or you might get a little crushing (although that might be different on bigger pills). The first pill splitter I bought was rubberized in the cutting area. I was a little worried about this not having that, but the fact that this one tilts that area down, and is a smooth plastic surface, actually makes it a little easier to get the pill into position. Once you have it in position, it seems to stay there better with this one than my last, making this one easier to use. This one also has a support piece that runs straight down the middle, which you can see, and that makes it easier to align the pill scoring so it cuts right. Construction quality feels good, and it seems pretty well engineered. I like it better than my last. The downside is that the blade is exposed, with no sliding safety shield, so don't try something silly like keeping your fingers in there while cutting, and keep it away from kids. The blade is not as sharp as a real razor blade, but it seems to be sharp enough for the pills that I've tried. That does add some safety, since it won't cut you if you accidentally brush it. I don't know that there would be any real benefit to it being sharper.' I've only used the one other pill splitter, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I feel that this was a good buy. I do like it better than the last.

We have a Chihuahua and, due to her diminutive size, our vet is always giving us pills that need to be cut in half, or even quartered, for her to get the right dosage. I got tired of trying to cut them with a knife (and winding up with odd sizes, crumbled pills or, even worse, having the pill shoot out from under the knife into who knows where in the kitchen). I decided on this cutter because I noticed it has ridges to hold the pill in place and I liked that it was clear and nicely designed (plus I liked the color). Cutting a pill in half is fairly straightforward, but cutting it into quarters can be a bit more difficult. Once you get the pill into the right position, however, it does cut it fairly close with only a few uneven casualties. I have managed to cut a pill that was about 3mm by 7mm in size in half and a round pill of just 6mm into quarters, though they were not perfectly even. It doesn't matter much however because usually she ends up needing it twice a day so I am able to construct an entire dose from the different size parts (or I'm cutting it into tiny pieces to "hide" it better in her food (she's very clever and, if the pill is too big, she will find it and spit it out.) It's fairly sturdy, as far as plastic goes, and has a nice smooth action to the blade side. Once cut, the portions rarely fall into the square container on their own but usually require some "nudging" on my part with a finger or shake of the container. Mine even came with a nice, small metal container with screw on cap and ring for traveling. I'm so glad I took a chance and don't have to fight with knives and flying pills any more!

Arrived quickly and works as intended. Pros: sharp blade cuts easily and smoothly, little storage area built into the case holds cut pills Cons: box feels cheap and I question the durability; blade is exposed when lid is open and it would be easy to cut your fingers/hand when placing pills into the cut path; the pill channel would probably work very well for round pills but I've found it difficult to get my smaller oval/oblong pills aligned correctly; the storage area built into the box is not enclosed separately meaning that if you struggle to open the lid, or open upside down the extra cut pills will spill out.

Works great, just as intended. My doctor wanted to cut my dosage in half, and this cuts the pills perfectly.

It works, but you need to use a lot of force. Also need pad to stop it from moving.

The blade is very sharp on this cutter. I've used it to cut large and small tablets with ease. I like that there is a small 'tray' right below the cutter. You can cut several tablets and store the cut items in the tray until you are finished. The unit washes up very easily, fold and stores very nicely. I haven't had to travel with it, but since the cutting blade is covered, I would say it would be safe to travel with. Definitely recommend this product.

I had hoped that the design of this cutter would make it easier to cut tablets exactly in half but this is a complete disappointment. The blade is extremely sharp but not at all precise. Repeated attempts just ruined more tablets for me and as anyone can tell, medicines are expensive. To my utter shock, the item is not returnable and Amazon CS has not called me back even after I raised two requests. The seller has also not included the keychain pillbox in the package. Extremely disappointed on all counts 🙁

Great little handy to tool to split tablets. Blade is sharp and if done correctly gives a clean cut.
