This is a very good smart bulb, but potential buyers should know about one key detail. The Good: - Setup is a breeze using the Tapo app. - The lighting itself is top-notch—bright, great colour accuracy, and a wide temperature range. - The connection has been rock-solid and reliable. - Basic Alexa voice commands work flawlessly. The Downside: The functionality within Alexa is limited. The official Tapo skill does not support the advanced modes, scenes, or effects that you can access through the Tapo app itself. Verdict: It's an excellent piece of hardware that I'd still recommend. However, if your main goal is to control all its fancy features with your voice, you might be a little disappointed.

I have been using this for around a year now, and i can say with full confidence that this is one of the best purchases i have made. white light straining my eyes? change it to warm. forgot to turn off my light when i left the house? turn it off from my phone. need help waking up? set a timer for the light to turn on at the same time as my alexa alarm. too lazy to turn of the light when I'm comfortable in bed or on the couch? ask alexa to turn it off. honestly the lamp has been a life saver for days i feel lazy. it also comes with multiple colours, perfect for any vibe or setting the scene for films or shows. you can change the the brightness of each light which is extremely useful. It's compatible with the alexa and extremely easy to connect. the quality is amazing, and its so easy to control the light via either the app or alexa once connected. I would 100% recommend to anyone.

Plenty bright for a reasonably sized room when using white light. My rooms are 4x5 yards and I find that a brightness setting 25% is comfortable for most tasks but I need to crank it up for reading. According to my smart meter 25% uses a couple of watts. Remember that white light will be brighter than colours because all the LEDs are active. Set up was easy. One the account was created the Tapo app talks you through the process complete with diagrams. I did have a problem initialising one of the bulbs which it refused to add to the virtual network. Reading the troubleshooting guide the app presented told me that I shouldn't be running a VPN while initialising the bulb. Turned it off and hey presto. The VPN doesn't affect interacting with the bulb after it has been initialised and added to your home network. Timers, schedules and default settings are stored on the bulb, so you don't have to have an active network or mobile device available once these are set up. You can easily configure what the bulb does when it is switched on. It can use the same colour and brightness setting it was using when it was switched off or it can default to any colour and brightness you specify. Means that you don't have to fiddle around with a device when you turn it on at the switch. There are some weaknesses. The themes, which let you have the bulb changing colour continuously, aren't great. They either switch directly from one colour to another or fade towards black, change colour and brighten again. Missing is an option to move smoothly through the colour spectrum from one colour to the next - even my dumb 16 colour bulb with a remote control can do that, so it's strange this can't. It also doesn't seem to be possible to set a theme as the default on setting which means you can't use a schedule to have the bulb switch on running a theme, which would be nice to simulate a TV when I'm away. The gradual on/off setting isn't gradual enough - it takes under a second. It would be nice if you could set how long it takes to go from off to your desired brightness and vice versa. One can only hope that a future software update may correct some of these weaknesses. Can't comment on using Alexa to work it as I haven't experimented with that yet - the app makes things easy enough.

These bulbs are easy to set up and once set up work great. sometimes they can be a little hesitant but 90% of the time they work fine. we have automation set up for all the ones we have so rarely actually turn them on/off ourselves and just let the schedules do all the work. These are good value for money and work/look great in any room or application, whether its an accent lamp for mood lighting or a replacement for the big light in the living room

I recently changed my wifi and all of a sudden, getting my smart bulbs to work had become very very complicated! My existing bulbs needed a 2.4ghz wifi connection which they could no longer find. Having spent the best part of 2 hours trying to connect 1 bulb & my only success was taking out the wifi for the rest of the house, I gave up & decided to buy this bulb. I have bought 1 initially as I wanted to make sure it would work before I replace them all. The bulb arrived next day. When I finally felt ready to face this again, I downloaded the app, plugged the bulb in & followed the app instructions. It was really simple to set up & link with Alexa, took less than 5 minutes. Good product at a good price, will be looking to replace all our smart bulbs with these tapo ones.

S'est connectée sans problème et a très bien fonctionné... Jusqu'à ce que j'installe une ampoule connectée de même marque pour ma lampe de chevet située dans la pièce à coté. Bizarre... Résultat, une ampoule qui a rendu l'âme au bout de six mois d'utilisation seulement. Assez décevant vu le prix j'avoue.
