Good, not great
As advertised. Compact, does everything a talking count-down timer should do. Seller was prompt. Packaging was on the excessive side but that's fine.My main irritation is that the battery contact seems weak and so it was hard to get it to start working in the first place (I was worried I got a bum product at first, but then it started working), and not infrequently the voice/sound sounds like the battery is being drained (strained, slower sound), even though the battery should be new. So far though, the battery keeps working. I'll try to update this if I find that the battery actually does die prematurely. Two minor, annoying things about the design of this timer are:1. No volume control (it's fairly loud and I live in an apartment)2. Once it hits zero, it makes your chosen alarm sound for a full minute before counting the time past zero. This is loud and irritating as all the alarm sounds are irritating. This won't be an issue for you if you're unlikely to use the counting up (past zero) feature. However, this timer is quite affordable, so these limitations are more than reasonable for the price.I don't regret this purchase. I think it is a good buy if you are looking for a talking countdown timer. I use it to help me keep track of time when I am getting ready in the morning because I was born with no internal timer (adult ADHD), and it gets me out the door on time just fine :)

It is sometimes annoying how the countdown keeps repeating until its manually turned ...
Works well as intended. Counts down to the set time and repeats. I used it every day for over a year. It is sometimes annoying how the countdown keeps repeating until its manually turned off. I set the count down to 5 minutes and let it repeat until my kids get out of the home in the morning. If I forget to turn it off, it keeps repeating until we are back home in the evening and I hate that I drained the battery unnecessarily. I wish there is a 'repeat n times' feature on this timer. Now, for the best part. This timer has transformed our morning routine from chaos/yelling/tears to blissful, structured, stress free time. It feels so good to worry less about getting to school on time and spend more time enjoying the beginning of a new day. I set the timer to 5 minutes and let my children finish one or two simple tasks in that time, like getting out of bed, getting dressed, eating breakfast, getting lunch in lunchbox, etc. My kids get distracted a lot but the countdown helps them to get back on track. So the best part is the timer doing the talking for me.

but it is to annoying to use
I'm blind, so I was looking for a talking timer. IT WONT SHUT UP! My friends thought I was exaggerating, but they soon told me to break it. There is no reason for it to talk as often as it does, and the sounds and voice gets on everyone's nerves. The magnet on the back is not strong enough to hold the timer up. It does work as a timer, but it is to annoying to use.

My husband is blind and has owned several of these lasting many years. I bought this one for myself and it is dead after 1 1/2 years.

Okay as long as it works.
Just to start, I've been through at least 3 of these in the last few years. I really do like them, just wish they were more durable. Even bought some replacement batteries, however it doesn't seem to last very long. Like another reviewer said, it seems to have a problem with the battery connection. On this last one, I let it run down and reached for my battery replacements. Once I got them it, it no longer worked. Have had the same problem with similar problem with all 3 of tel-times countdown timers. My replacements have a good charge and are the right size. As long as you're willing to invest some money into something that WILL fail after a few months to a year, I so go for it. Haven't found anything else out there on the market remotely close to this for the price. I tried a model similar to this, "pocket countdown timere" I think. It looks different, but seems to even have the same voice. Think that one eventually gave me the same problem. I love the idea, just wish somewhere was one that was more durable. Hate to have to keep spending money on replacements.

Works great, wish it were louder.
Great for my Dementia client wirh severe OCD. I wish the volume could be turned up louder but it works well for our needs.

Great product!
I have bought more than a couple of these timers over the past ten years. I primarily use them as an aid in timing the startof sailboat races, but I have used them as timing my EBay bids, and timing oven cooking. My wife, who in almostblind has used the timer as a talking day clock. Very reliable, BUT not waterproof, as I have found out on twooccasions. I first made a digital countdown timer from scratch forty years ago. It was very limited in functionalityand cost about $40. This item in much more versatile, accurate and durable and costs about half as much.Great product!

It works - barely
Voice and alarms (all variations) are far too loud and harsh sounding, and the voice sounds far too often (but not when counting up which is what I wanted). Instructions don't say how the REPEAT switch is hidden behind the bottom third of the front panel which slides down. It works, so I can't request a refund, but life is too short to mess with junk. Too bad everything has to be made so cheaply it becomes worthless.
