Better than pictured – read for install tips
My biggest concern was how to tighten a pressure gauge onto this, so I was glad they included a solution. As others have said, you need a 10mm allen wrench to tighten this. The product pictures do not show the hexagonal shape on the inside, but it’s there for allen keys. You can use the L style (traditional) or the kind that are attached to a socket adapter (see my pictures). Another reviewer had a good idea, they removed the washer, and tightened it onto a hose thread very tight, and put the pressure gauge on that way. If you don’t have an allen that large, it’s not a bad idea, just be careful you don’t crack anything. Also, it was not clear that you get 2 brass setups, 2 black washers, 2 silicone washers, and some Teflon tape. You absolutely want Teflon on the ¼” threads. But, never use Teflon on hose threads. On a hose, the washer seals, the threads do not seal. So it’s a MUST on one side and MUST NOT on the other side. Also don’t double washer, that usually results in leaks (but not always). I got this because I wanted a pressure gauge to adjust my well pump pressure and my storage tank pressure. I wanted the pressure gauge to be 0-100 so I could see very clearly what the pressure was (using a 0-200 or 0-300 are half or third as precise, visually). This adapter allows me to put a standard 0-100 pressure gauge on a hose bibb. Nice!

Perfect GHT to NPT adapter, tightening tip
This is a durable quality product. The reviewer that said you need a 10 mm Allen wrench to tighten is absolutely correct, see photo. I did not have a 10 mm wrench so I tried something else to thread in a 1/4 npt nipple. Remove the rubber washer then tighten the adapter to a GHT. You can then tighten in a 1/4 npt fitting without it turning. I did go out and buy a metric Allen wrench set since at Lowe's. Also I saw some questions on the washers. Typically red washers are silicone for higher temperatures. Black are usually Buna-N or Neoprene for normal temperatures. Just my educated guess. Oh, I saw one reviewer tried to use 2 washers. Only one required.

The thread size is not accurate. My fittings could go only one or two threads and then get stuck completely. This happens with all fittings from both sides.

They are somewhat pricey but saved me a lot of trouble. Nice heavy brass. They are designed to attach and tighten to valve using a hex key. Would recommend product. Bob S.
