My 2.5 year old granddaughter really have it a run for it's money banging on it with both hammers. I believe it will be sturdy enough to hold up over time. It came in a brown box with no display so it wouldn't excite a child if they received it as a gift.She really had fun with it but at 2.5 years old had a bit of a hard time grasping the concept, but started to understand what to do just not exact when to do it. Just not quick enough yet.
