A great game for game night
This game is great fun. I've been playing it with 2 different groups. 1 group is friends that have a lot of TTRPG experience and the other is my wife and 10 year old son both of whom don't really have the TTRPG experience. Both groups are thoroughly enjoying the game and the allows me to keep the progress of both games saved. The game tiles and miniatures are excellent quality. In fact I would say the miniatures are amazing and SO detailed. The game pieces for the columns are the only ones I wish were just a little higher quality because you use them a lot to create different levels of your maps and they are wearing out a little faster than the other items. The quests are fun and since I am playing with 2 different groups, I'm getting 2 different experiences. I like that you can bring in different characters and the app does make subtle changes to the quests to allow for some replayability. Overall I highly recommend this game to both TTRPG and more casual board game fans.

Highly recommended.
This is FFG's answer to something like Gloomhaven. And they do it in a more refined and concise fashion. Like Mansions of Madness from the same company, the companion app allows for quick setup and manages many of the details so you can focus on playing. The app also allows for VERY dynamic scenarios; you never know what is going to happen next. I felt this was quick to learn but still has some strategic depth. All without being overbearing. The minis are also excellent. These are the first hard plastic minis from FFG and the detail is outstanding. They could end up being a bit fragile so take care putting them back into the formed storage/packaging. There is also ample storage for all of the terrain and components which is a nice change of pace. Overall, I can not recommend this game enough if you want to adventure with friends and while expensive, this feels like a premium product.

Better than before
This version of Descent is great. The terrain and units seem more sturdy than before. They even held up to my 5 and 7 year Olds helping me build them. There is more setup than previous Descent games, so you will need more prep. With the app controlling the bad guys (mostly) you do lose a player, but you can also be on the same side, which makes the game more balanced imo. It is also much easier to save information for a certain campaign, allowing you to more easily have multiple campaigns. We've even been able to stop mid mission before by taking pictures of our layout, health, and tokens. I would love adding the ability to have like a pause function that would allow you to enter this into the game. I can't think of a way that would be easier than a picture though. Would also be nice to have a couple more characters, namely another support. By far the most fun I've had with a board game in ages, and I have easily gotten my money's worth of entertainment out of it. We're probably 40 hours in at this point, and $4/hr seems really good these days.

Great fun and many hours of game play
My 7 year old daughter loves this game. We play as a family every Saturday and it has been great for building team work and strategy. Both of my girls like to play but it's a bit hard for the 5 year old to stay focused. The 3d setup of each map is fun and engaging. No two maps ever feel the same. Great purchase. I'll be back for part 2.

The game is great, but the developers confusion about how to use personal pronouns is aggrevating
"They" and "their" are plural pronouns. "It" and "it" are the singular pronouns when you do not know the gender of a single form of life. A flower is an it, not a they, until you verify whether is has a stamen or a pistil, then you can refer to the flower as male or female respectively. The constant use of "they" and "their" to describe single individuals, when "it" an "it" should be used, is annoying and difficult to read, as you really are not sure if the writer is talking about a group or an individual. I feel this intentionally caters to a specific group of American activists.

A lot of fun to be play with a group of friends!
I was skeptical about the price, me and some friends do board game night every couple weeks, so some rough reviews so I was afraid I'd be sitting at home playing this one by myself out of embarrassment and trying to get my money's worth. Told a couple of my friends about it, sent some pics and everyone wanted to try it. 1 2 hour mission turned into us playing for 10 hours. It's easy to get invested in, a lot of fun. We completed 3 missions and all agreed we can't wait to do the next one. As you progress you get better items and upgrades all managed by the app. We had it cast to a TV, but a tablet or laptop would work well. Don't recommend just playing on a phone, it would be hard for everyone to be fully engaged that way. Already looking forward to the expansion and just a little into the game!

Great dungeon crawler; easy to learn
This is a great dungeon crawler board game that is quick to set up and easy to learn, especially compared to such heavy weights is gloomhaven and massive darkness. The app is extremely helpful and takes care of most of the administrative work of handling enemies and their actions. Highly recommended!

Toll anzusehen. Spieltiefe hinkt im Vergleich zu Gloomhaven hinterher. Trotzdem ein guter Kauf und ein spannendes Spiel.

This is an incredible game, and sommuch value for money. First note for those unsure, this is not a simple or straightforward game to play. There are also of rules and mechanics in play at one time, lots of moving parts to the puzzle. However, the phone app that you download to play makes keeping track of everything alot easier, and has an in app "rules reference". Basically a rule encyclopedia. The value for money in this is incredible. Yes, it's pricey, but you get figurines for all 6 heroes, the bbeg, and multiple of each enemy type (ranging between 2 and 4) for 2 trays full of figurines. Not to mention 18 reversible "tiles" that create the game play area as you progress, dozens of scenery pieces, tokens, and multiple card decks for items, armours, skills and weapons. All of which is very well made, and the figurines come unpainted so you can have the joy of painting them yourselves. As for time to play, expect hours lost to the game. We have a group running a campaign and, after completing 2 quests, we're pushing theb8 hour mark. Each scenario, or quest, takes about 2 to 4 hours to complete. And there are multiple quests across the campaign. All of which is told using beautiful artwork, music and cut scenes within the phone app. Which helps guide you through each fight, every turn, every interaction, even the city between each quests is interactable through the app. All in all, if you have the patience for it, this is an incredible game that is well thought out, well made, well developed and well worth the money.
