It’s good through all 700-some pages. Thoroughly entertaining and thought provoking. It sort of acts as a giant reading list. Colin Wilson is sort of a literary DJ. My list is so much longer after reading this

Amazing book, the information it contains is solid without exagerations and the approach to the subject is balanced and cautious

A very good overview of Western esoteric themes (now somewhat historically dated), by an author initially quite skeptical of the occult.

I read this rather lengthy book cover-to-cover with pleasure and recomment it highly - especially to the dyed-in-the-wool materialists with preconceived negative and/or skeptical attitude(s) toward the so-called paranormal or unusual.

Great book ...I am still reading and can not have enough of it .

This book is inches thick and all fascinating.The detail in this book is hard to find elsewhere, but here, literally all in one book. I bought it for the chapters on Ouspensky and Gurdieff, which were wonderful, but leafing through other chapters, I know it will make for great reading in the year to come.

This is a well researched look at the Occult. It’s aim appears to convince the sceptic!! For a believer like me....after all in India it’s a part of our basic beliefs....I found it unnecessarily long and repetitive. However it is a very important book and makes some stunning revelations. A definite read for anyone interested in the Occult even if it’s a tad too long!!
