Quickly Gets Rid of Mice
A very clever and determined mouse moved in with me and wasn’t shy about making his presence known. He was agile and very astute at dodging shoes and other objects which I threw at him. I then refined my defensive techniques by laying spring loaded traps for him. I placed a long list of tempting baits and delicious morsels of food in the traps and placed them in areas I knew the mouse frequented. The clever mouse never once went near the traps. I could tell by the untouched bait that he never even lightly nibbled the food in the traps, let alone gorged long enough to spring one of them. Frustrated with this clever mouse and his indiscreet toiletry habits, I laid some CritterKill in one of his favourite foraging areas in the kitchen. Within an hour I went back to the kitchen to check if the CritterKill had been nibbled at. Whilst I entered the kitchen I met the mouse staggering out. He looked very unwell. With a very unsteady gait he managed to reach the back door and made his way into the great beyond. I don’t suspect he’ll come back. I was amazed that the CritterKill attracted the mouse so quickly. I was also amazed at how quickly it disabled and got rid of him.

End of the road for rodents
First of all I have to say that I prefer not to kill any animal, even rats. However I had to resort to a poison since all else failed. I noticed the rats were tunnelling under my house in two places. I would fill the holes with metal and concrete, only for a new tunnel to appear within hours. This intervention is meant to disrupt their routine and scare them off, however they were determined to get into that space under the house as they clearly saw it as home. It was a race against time in Summer, when their numbers would only go up and they might eventually end up in the house in large numbers, giving me a very serious problem. One of the areas I covered with tarmac which seemed to work, though the other was near the lawn hence a lot more difficult to stop. I tried a rat trap which had worked before - I put some tempting treats onto an unloaded trap inside a bait box to get them feeding off it – but it was untouched. They must have known what that was, they are clearly quite streetwise so I half expected they would be wise to any poisoning attempts. I saw this product on Amazon and it seemed to have good spec and reviews, so gave it a try. It uses Difenacoum which is well used commercially and is meant to work in 3-7 days. Quick delivery thank you very much. I placed one block in the bait box, just outside the latest tunnel – and it was gone when I next looked. Following day, another block – this also disappeared. I replaced that, and this time it wasn’t touched. Within a week of the first use, It seemed there was no more activity, so I filled in the remaining tunnels and have seen no new ones since. Which means this stuff has basically worked and I wholeheartedly recommend it – should all else fail of course. The lesson learned is that you really need to avoid them moving in to start with, by not putting bird food on the ground, keeping compost secure and filling in any tunnels immediately rather than waiting for them to become established. But if the rat must die then this is an excellent product.

It works!
I'll preface this by saying that I used this for 2 weeks and then stopped being patient and added a single feed poison alongside it. Something to be aware of is that this is bait, so mouse activity will increase when you start using it. The mouse (let's face facts though, it's mice, plural) definitely liked this. The first night we left it under a spot we knew they had been, the next day it had been moved to under the sofa. 2nd night it disappeared completely. 3rd night we heard them in the walls and could actually hear the block being dragged around! We found out where they were living, found the block and noticed it had been nibbled so began leaving them a block under the dishwasher each night. They ate sooo much, and they were definitely eating it and not just taking it to store - the blocks were nibbled right down. Because we were feeding them they stopped coming out of hiding and just happily lived quietly (well not quietly, they are so loud when nibbling the blocks!) I don't know if any died during this 2 weeks though because they're pretty well hidden, but unfortunately I lost patience and decided to add a single feed poison to the arsenal. Which they also devoured. 3 days after starting that I came downstairs to a terrible smell in the kitchen. Had it finally worked? Well it's been 3 days now since we last left a fresh block and sachet and they have not been touched, and we've not heard anything, so I'm quietly confident they're gone. (We'll pull the dishwasher out and find out for certain in a couple of days!) I would say this is a good product because they definitely eat it, I just can't be certain that this is what finished them off. It could well be that we had more than we realised and some died during the 2 weeks we were only using this product.
